I think the BL, BTL, and DD3500 are a bit much when considering a budget build. All of those like good amounts of power.
A BL and an AQ1200d would keep him around $500-$550 if bought brand new from the respective companies. Leaving $200+ for box materials, wire and accessories. More than doable. Hell, could even throw in a Shuriken battery and still be around his said budget.I think the BL, BTL, and DD3500 are a bit much when considering a budget build. Nice amp, but I would not recommend that ohm load for daily on stock electrical. If that sony h/u unit is a higher end model i'd stick with that. Then Get 2 sets of int speakers (used), mtx 1501d (1500rms@2 ohm, 2000rms as low as .5ohm modded) used for 250 and then 3 dual 12 or 15" 4 ohm subs of your choice. Wire them to .67ohms and be happy.
I had 1 hooked up to 3 12" r's and a fosgate 800.4 for int...Dimming lights but it was still loud as f.Nice amp, but I would not recommend that ohm load for daily on stock electrical.

I've done many budget builds, with many goals in mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif[/quote']
Not a bad option there. Just depends on what he wants. Single or dual 15/12 setup. The AQ is a good option for power though.

When on a budget, I usually find it easier to go with a single driver. Depending on his desires and space limitations, a single 15" or 18" would be in the running. Not a bad option there. Just depends on what he wants. Single or dual 15/12 setup. The AQ is a good option for power though.
