Help making decision

I have a Rockford Fosgate prime amp that is a mono amp that puts out 500 watts rms @ 2ohm

{Rockford Fosgate Prime R2-500X1}

I am either going with:

Dual Rockford Fosgate prime 12”s with DVC @ 4 ohm, they’re 250 rms each and 500 max for the set. Wire them 2 ohm.

OR. OPTION B

Single Rockford fosgate P1 Punch 15” 2ohm SVC 250 rms 500 max.

I am leaning more towards a vented box for whichever I go with, but my question is….

Which one should I go with!? I can’t decide!!

  1. Not right now
Two 12’s is more cone area than a single 15. If you have the space for them, that would be my choice.

The options for wiring two dvc 4 ohm subwoofers is 1 ohm, 4 ohms or 12 ohms.
You would want either two single 4 ohm subwoofers or two 2 ohm dvc subwoofers to wire them at 2 ohms mono.

It's a good thing I asked them, you're right. I had a brain fart and was thinking of running parallel one sub not 2 subs. I can get the same dual 12" in 2 ohm dvc. Thank you sir!

Chiming in for the 12s. I'm not in it for the SPL, so I'd personally take multiple small subs over a single large one, even if they covered the same surface area.
Naturally improved accuracy, lower distortion (other aspects being consistent).
