LIMITING a sub's output

I'm getting the W7 because I want high sq combined with great spl. I dont really plan to have the bass up real high very often, but I want the potential there if I ever need it. Long sub life is a very big priority to me.

So how can I set a general limit the output of the sub (that wont clip) in case I bunp a knob or more likely some fool comes in there and decides to see how hard he can blast it? I want to avoid the excursions that can damage or wear the sub.

Set the gains properly...

Then you can have it on full volume with no problems.

I set my gains by listening levels(balance) with the hu sub setting at 0 (-5 to 5) then tested the output of the amp with a dmm to see what number on the sub setting produced my desired "max" rms. turned out to be +3 with volume at 58/62

sure you arent getting the w7 because you touch little boys? that is more likely.

So get a Fi Q , you obviously know very little and have been impressed by the high price tag and great advertising from JL audio - there are plenty that cost less and are ver capable products

SI Mag

Image Dynamics Max

Fi Q

Alpine type X

You use a Digital Multimeter DMM to set your gains on your amp and then don't turn it up past that - if your friends insist on fvcking with your stereo tell them to fvck off or walk.

Hang out here for a week and read posts and ask questions - in a week you will spend half of what you thought and get a system that is geared for your listening style.
