Laptop smart people i need your help

You can get, or better yet build, a ****** desktop for $1600! It would smack the crap out of any laptop for the same price.

But if you must get a laptop, I'd go Asus as well.

Hp is garbage so is Toshiba. ASUS usually gives you the most bang for your buck and is a great company. Dell/Sony are very solid but marked up more than they are worth. Lenovo is also good bang for your buck. Samsung is hit or miss. Always expect some sort of internal failure in a laptop when moving it around often. Overtime parts loosen up and things began to fail on you. I would say for an active laptop user who moves it around in places all the time you will get a good 4-5 years out of it if taken care of properly.

And? Your gunna have to build a pretty nice desktop to keep up with the laptop in getting and besides that I don't use desktops...
They are fitting better parts into laptops now, but you won't hit the same specs and/or quality parts on a laptop as in a desktop for the same price. And the nicest desktops will blow away the nicest laptops. But that level is not for everyone, just like 6 18's in a clamshell isn't for everyone. Nothing wrong with just rollin with a laptop, just sayin you can get much more for the same price with a desktop. I don't doubt you'll get a great laptop for that price though.

And yeah, the last desktop I built was nice, guarantee it was much nicer than a laptop of the same price when I built it new. Haven't built one since then though. It's about the time to, but I dove into this hobby. And I thought building computers was expensive... :/

Yeah I recommend building a pretty decent desktop for home use (gaming, media, whatever). Then buy an okay laptop/netbook/ultrabook to take to work and school. Unless your job or school requires a really powerful computer for programs, something with okay specs will be fine. Besides even a really powerful laptop will be dated in ~2-3 years. So just buy inexpensive laptops and replace as needed.

Asus all the way... Lenovo is okay but they started lacking some about 2 years ago.
