Is my sub really an SEXrev.2?

So I bought this alleged SEXrev.2 10D2 and I had it out of the box and saw something that didn’t jive with the specs for the rev. 2 at least how they are now. The design leaves the coil nice and exposed for good cooling well I looked and unless I got some bad ‘ish the coil is copper and not flat wound, which makes me think that it’s not just a copper clad aluminum type deal or perhaps copper colored laquer. So this leads me to wonder whether it’s a revision 1? Or original *** but I haven’t been able to find the coil specs for a rev1 *** do any of you guys know if they were copper coils? Or perhaps it’s a recone or one off type deal? It does have the RE and SE on the cone and it does have the fat surround, it’s got a cast basket that looks like the current model. It’s double stack mag with chrome base with nice big chamfered pole vent with a boot the has RE *** embossed on it.

If it's the newer sub Dave, it's junk. I had 4 of the original SE series 10's and they were the 12 spoke basket, 3" coil models.

You have to take the 3 out and replace with a e

Appreciate the link and it’s compltetly different than that one but I was looking close and I swear it looks like round copper wire I don’t get it.... Gah when photobucket decides to work right I’ll have up some pictures. This is really throwing me for a loop and either way it’s temp. I’ll probably end up selling it local when I get the FUs.

What are they crap coils or what’s there issue? I mean I’ve actually been impressed with it so far for what I paid for it originally it was just stand end until I could resurround the JL10Wv2 that was in the box before then the car Audio drug hit me and I want more.

I had an old school SE 12 that I beat to hell with a PG Tantrum 1200.1.

Just basically overalll cheaply made....heard from other users they weren't loud or as good as sounding as the older models. PB has been a huge issue lately....you want it to work, fork over 400 bucks. Or get with another web hosting site such as imgur which is still free.

I picked this 12 up a few months ago . I believe it's the SE. These old school ones are solid.. this one has a busted tencil lead. not sure if I'm going to run direct leads. Or recone it and Beef It Up a bit.. I think the SX is identical from the outside

I could be wrong but I thought v1 RE SE's were 2.5 in coil and SX was 3 in coil and overall a bigger motor.

This issue with those older subs was it was very difficult to identify which model number was for what sub. There was no sticker anywhere nor engraving on the drivers. The boxes that they came shipped in was the only way to tell. Kinda dumb imo...at least put something somewhat hidden on the sub to be able to identify what it is. The SX version had slightly larger dia magnets and more power handling....which was 1000 rms. SE series was 600 rms.

Your partial right. My 10's had 3" coils, so does @My63bug sub. SX had same coil too.

I really wished I had kept my 10's but I just simply don't have the room to keep them someplace in my garage.

SEs ducked. So was OK. The xxx was decent the MT slammed..
