Is Car Audio Dying?

I'm sure everybody at a stoplight doesn't agree with my taste in music.
Very true! i always turned mine down at stoplights/signs. Dont want people knowing who i am and that i have a good system. I do turn it up when some *** comes rolling down the road with his sony explodes and then own the shit out of his. lol. A lot of kids have systems at my school but they ALL ****. Other than mine:). Sony explodes have taken over my school. Everyone is like well, that cost too much, I can get two sony explodes in a box for 130. lol. And when i ask them what they have in the car, they always the sony explodes, but there the good ones. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

If you dont hear systems in your area like you use to, it probably has to do with more strict local laws being passed. Does this mean fewer people have systems? Not necessarily.
If your local b&m's are going out of business, chances are its from internet sales (and to some degree, internet education). Does this mean fewer people have systems? Not necessarily.

The economy will likely hurt the industry however. Possibly quite badly. It is, after all, a luxury hobby.
luxury hobby? mmmhh never heard that one before.

Shi't dude, maybe its just my city. Your lucky man. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I dunno. There are a few people around here who have systems. But most of the time, they're pre-fab hack-jobs. People who have the bass gain at max, Loudness on high, and the gain on their amp all the way up and say "OOOHHH, MY SYSTEM ROCK'S YO'S DAWG!" Even though it sounds like horse ***.

luxury hobby? mmmhh never heard that one before.
Most people on here buy and sell $200+ dollar subs like they're candy. People have subs that MSRP for $2.2K+. I could buy a car for $2.2K, and a decent JDM car, too... it'd probably run for a long time, too.

This is no a poor man's hobby. Not in the least bit. I'm broke, and I try to keep up. I don't have a good system, and I've been insulted for it. But odds are, the people insulting me know a lot less about car audio than I do.

But there it is a Luxury Hobby. By far.

I would say working in the industry that yes car audio is dying to the average consumer. There are still enthusiast like us on forums and elsewhere but the average person i think no longer see the benefits in it.A couple reason i think are:

People get the wrong idea about car audio, i have no idea how many people i get saying they dont want a sub to go boom and annoy everybody because thats what they have been brought to think because of some people in the industry.

Also factory systems are getting too good for the average consumer, most people think a premium fosgate bose etc system sounds great and no reason to spend money on something that wont sound any better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Also cars are becoming harder to integrate with and work on.

Just my thoughts
x2...screw new cars!

i guess car audio is never going to die in FL..those some loud mofo's..lol

around here in my city ill say im pretty much louder than anyone here, and it sounds good doing it..and yes i believe car audio is dying..i just hope it can rebound..but the way our country is going i dont think so..

I know alot of ppl that think about car audio think about the following:

-robbery

-"being that guy"

-the cost of it

-fuel economy

and the list is prolly longer than that if i really think about it..to some ppl that out weights the want..but to me car audio is a passion and need...

when you run the high dollar brands...it becomes that....
Its only a luxury once you buy CMass and DD, right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
RoadGear and Pyramid are luxury items too, within the context of my point.

It all depends on where you live. Around here, yes. Guys are into the performance aspect of their vehicles more than the car audio. I'm falling away from it also due to me wanting to purchase an Evo IX. Also, having children plays a big roll in it.

Similar stuff happened in LA all this shooting and violence and specially those dam'n thiefs that are just on the look out to jack your shi't.
My 2nd system almost got stolen back when I had a '92 Camry. I was bumping it on a way to a house party...had a 12" Orion H2 in 2 cubes ported and not sure what it was tuned to but it was running off a Soundstream 4 channel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Upon leaving my friend tells me I was gonna get jacked because the guys who helped once in a while were eying my car, but since he knew they were talking about me he talked them out of it. Wasn't even THAT loud.
