Is Car Audio Dying?

If you have less assholes bumping around your town/street, then you sould be thankfull, because that shit is annoying.
**** attn *****s.

Worst part is that they're always playing some stupid *** songs, hip-hop/rap or mariachi around here...
Agreed. I'm so glad I don't hear my girlfriend's neighbor bumping it at 2 AM when I'm trying to get some sleep. I think he got sick of me setting off his alarm with my exhaust when I would leave. It's not like I did it on purpose at first. It's not my fault his alarm sets off when I merely just on my car. Bastard.

My 2nd system almost got stolen back when I had a '92 Camry. I was bumping it on a way to a house party...had a 12" Orion H2 in 2 cubes ported and not sure what it was tuned to but it was running off a Soundstream 4 channel //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Upon leaving my friend tells me I was gonna get jacked because the guys who helped once in a while were eying my car, but since he knew they were talking about me he talked them out of it. Wasn't even THAT loud.
You usually have solid posts. What happened here.

Lol...that was several years back..bout 5 years I would say. I used to be the type of person that blazes my tunes loud on the way to and from house parties, driving about, but over time I realize how annoying it is to others. Sure I like my music loud and lively, but that's why we have windows on our vehicles...or the highway. Now I'm the type of person that dislikes the type of person I used to be. I guess not everyone likes Phil Collins //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

i guess car audio is never going to die in FL..those some loud mofo's..lol
around here in my city ill say im pretty much louder than anyone here, and it sounds good doing it..and yes i believe car audio is dying..i just hope it can rebound..but the way our country is going i dont think so..

I know alot of ppl that think about car audio think about the following:

-robbery

-"being that guy"

-the cost of it

-fuel economy

and the list is prolly longer than that if i really think about it..to some ppl that out weights the want..but to me car audio is a passion and need...
x2, my parents think im crazy doing this. Lol.

Everytime they see my subs in my car they just shake there head //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I haven't been in it nearly long enough to even say yes or no. But I know plenty of reasons why it could be.

And yes, it is a luxury hobby in every sense of the word, as every other hobby out there is.

I think people in general just don't care about audio or visual quality with things. I corrected the tint and color on a dorm tv the other day because the tones were bugging the shit out of me. How the TV stayed that way, for years, is beyond me.

It is not dying but is changing.

When I speak to someone over 35 and say we do Car Audio I get the "The boom boom stuff" So now when I tell them what we do I start out with Remotes, Remote Start, and Tint, plus we can replace your speakers or bad HU.

10 to 1 we do HU's and replace Bad Speakers.

Also remember that Moms love to add the TV's, with Headphones.

Well lately I've being going out a lot, and I rarely see peeps bumping. Back in L.A it was the same. Back then when I was going through elementary and middle school through the early and late 90's I saw more cars with systems, playing in the streets etc. Do you guy's seet it declining?
Yes, it is. It has been declining for years. There will be a committee created consisting of folks from the major car audio companies to come up with an action plan to address this issue.

Not sure what if anything can be accomplished though..

perhaps all the dumbasses who goes out and bump got tickets and decided they won't do that stupid shit anymore.

It's mostly due to the shitty economy actually

I can really exaggerate it can I? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif In the past 2 years, we have seen the Red Box go down, the medium box Tweeter closing, 2 major car audio magazines go out, OEM getting better curbing down the need for aftermarket, local B&M's closing up shop, less concentration on high end processors, and very few local car audio events... etc. ... we could go on and on and maybe I'm stretching it out a little bit but IMHO, it's a combination of things. Besides the bad economy, times are changing and if those local shops that don't adapt to the internet and concentrate on better service, are going to continue down that dying road. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crying.gif.ec0ebefe590df0251476573bc49e46d8.gif

Is it dying? Well you can't say it's picking up, can you?

Not only that, but a large number of OEM's vying for incorporating their product into manufactured vehicles, with said products getting better and better. No longer are folks who buy cars and trucks faced with the crappy AM dual dial radio with single dash speaker. Stock systems these days satisfy the majority of drivers out there.

Consumers now have the option(s) of adding extended components such as subs, video, gaming etc. to their vehicle package right at the dealer. Add to that a fairly sophisticated stock car alarm, and that doesn't leave much left for the after-market.
