You refered to people who believe in God as "stupid". Now you're saying I am attacking you? I have refered to specific evidence for the validity of the Bible and the validity of Jesus Christ. I have listed specific resources where these facts and the physical evidence behind them can be studied. Yet you say I'm making "assumptions", that there is no "evidence other then word of mouth", and the things I speak of are "unproveable". Yet I haven't brought up anything that I can recall that hasn't already been proven. Have you read the material I've mentioned and can point to evidence to the counter to be able to accuse it of being "no evidence"? I don't think it's me who is making groundless statements.... which is why I choose the term "willful ignorance". It's not an insult, it is an obsevation. If you feel like I'm attacking you I apologize. I thought two adults were sharing their beliefs and challenging one another to think about things we may not have considered before.
It's been my experience that the general public has swallowed a load of crap when it comes to these subjects. Most believe something because it made sense in their head or they heard it once on T.V. and it sounded reasonable. It is rare that someone has actually read the scientific findings for themselves to know what has been discovered and made an educated foundation for their beliefs. Do you think I would know the facts I know if I was easily persuaded? How do you 'spose I came about learning the things I've mentioned in this thread? I've had my own doubts I wanted answers to. People have asked me things I couldn't answer, and made me wonder the answer for myself. So, I've done some research. Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert by a long shot, but that doesn't mean I have no education at all in this area. I'm just sharing what I've learned, and the confirmed facts at that.
You do make a very legitimate point. Regardless how much evidence there is or isn't God is, and will always be, something we accept by faith. His word even says faith is the only way to please God. Because He is unseen, there will never be test-tubable proof (I think I just invented a word!). But, like the wind which is also unseen, we can see and feel it's affects and know it is there. God is no different. My life has changed since I quit going through the motions of religion and realized He is real and I can have a real relationship with Him. I know hundreds, literally, who can say the same thing.
