How is your system config set?

hey i have my system but im finding it tricky to set up... i just never get to a point where it pleases me so i go back to the beggining and try again... it sucks

how do you set your sound? so far im leaving amps flat and doing the cutouts from the head unit (Alpine CDA-9815) i got the built-in X-Over set as

Low- 80hz -12db/octave

Mid-Low - Flat (i still havent found a good cut for this frequency =[)

Mid-High - Flat (same as above =[ )

High - -2db, 3,2khz, -18db/octave

and the Equalizer is set as

Bass - Level: +5db, width: 1, frequency: 100hz

Mid-Bass - Level: +4db, width: 1, frequency: 250hz

Mid - Level: -1, width: 3, frequency: 1.0khz

Mid-Treble - Level: +2db, width: 3, frequency: 4.0khz

Treble - Level: +3, width: 2, frequency: 12khz

MX button is Off (sometimes i use it on 2 thou)

well the system is not ok yet... the system quite much lacks bass (even with the MX, which also kills my stereo quality), it's just not good as i want...

what do you recommend me to change?

how do i find the correct cutouts for my component speaker Mid-bass???

post your configs if you use Alpine with 5band equalization, i might try it too...

Every system will be different depending on vehicle acoustics, speakers, power, cutoff/curve, deadening, etc. Nobody will be able to pinpoint a decent config' for your situation. It takes tuning time, which can actually be part of the fun.

One thing to check, too, is phase. It's not uncommon for someone to get some midbass drivers and/or their subs out of phase (+/-), causing an empty sound.

My alpine has a basstype and it said it reccommends bass type 3. you hold down the center button. I don't know if u have that, but u might try it.

ok... but how do you recommend doing the cuts of the Mids? i just can't get a good adjustment.... whatever i do makes the sound kind of like dead or something... but it isn't good either on flat

how do you se yours? whats the best slope for a mid-bass (-6db/octave?, -12db/octave?. -18db/octave?. -24db/octave?)

i just can't get to a good and satisfactory adjustment, it pisses me off //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

edit: oh and it's not out of phase... checked it too heh

An RTA would be a good start just to see if you're close or not. I can remember when I didn't even trust my own ears but over time I've learned how to listen more critically and now I have more confidence in my judgment.

There is no "better" or "worse" for the slope. It's whatever works in your car, with your equipment, with your install, etc etc. This honestly isn't something that can be answered over the 'net. We can't tell you to use 12db or 18db/oct. It's something you need to listen for and see which gives the best results. Most of the time, it should be fairly obvious.

Maybe they need to be out of phase //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Try it out, see if anything changes.

An RTA is a Real Time Analyzer. Basically, it will "graph" the frequency response of your car so you can see where the peaks/valleys are.

My honest advice, if you are having such a hard time with this......take it into a shop and ask them for help. This is one of those things where you actually have to hear the setup to try to "fix" it.
