Help me build something unique.

I would trust him. That **** should slam.....looks good man. Nice job Chris!!
Dude, talk about a nice guy to work with, fielded me changing driver choices three times, my inability to measure a truck correctly, and just a barrage of questions. Lightning fast turn around and the price was out of this world, even shipped to BFE.

Needs to be member of the month or designer of the year or something lol He's willing to go out of his way to help out wherever. Because word of mouth gets him more business. I've sent him many newcombers his direction on here. He's even given me a few designs. One is a t-line as well....for a single DC Audio m3 8. I will be getting a build log going soon as the weather gets warmer. It's getting close.

people wont believe your car is only three 8s on a few hundred watts.. They will think you have two 15s on 3000 rms.

However your line out convertor will limit you to no end. You need something that flatten's the head unit signal. I would stay clear of audiocontrol. Get something like a JL cleansweep at the very least or a full blown digital sound processor like the audison bit one, alpine pxa 800 or jbl ms8 which EQ's the factory signal.

Main thing why you want to do this is because the factory head unit usually always cuts the bass signal to protect the door speakers with an inherent high pass filter. Along with it not being a dedicated subwoofer channel with its own digitally encoded signal. Unless you take care of these issues, you wont see any decent results because all you are doing is trying to get a sub signal out of a full range(but cut) signal. When the signal is cut, all you can do is try to boost it but when you try to boost something thats not in the music, you will get a lot of distortion and an overall weak signal to the amp and when its amplified, its basically sh*t compared to a strong signal being amplified. Countless installs have gained one to several DB just by upgrading the head unit or getting proper processing.

Thanks for taking the time to type that out, and this is one of the things I'm worried about with this particular car. I wish I could upgrade the head unit to something I'm used to, but in this situation it controls everything from the seats to the key fobs. This car has the 15 speaker BOSE sound package, and supposedly it's active, the front stage sounds amazing. It has a 10" sub in the rear deck that in my mind I can take the sub out, replace with an 8ohm, 50w resister and use that input for the line converter, while still keeping the active control of the OEM amplifier happy?

Maybe it still makes sense to use some kind of processing hardware? I don't want to do this half ****ed.

I suspect the sub out from the factory system would be an adequate source for LOC.

Have reasonable expectations, trunks are hard to get loud and luxury cars typically have a lot of factory padding/deadener between trunk and cabin.

Guess I'll just hook things up and make changes as needed. Leaning towards the Massive E3 amp. Not sure 1400rms is going to do this justice but I am also limited by factory alternator and no extra battery, I'll keep the thread updated as things come together.

I had initially planned on building a vanity panel and wrapping in black leather, either that or smoothing the box and painting gloss black to match the outside of the car. however, after seeing how nice the wood of the box really looks I am seriously thinking about sanding, and staining to match the dark grey burlwood accents in the interior of the car. What does everyone think for finish??

I like the dark grey you stated. When I get my stuff installed, I will be running my signal from the oem sub in the back. I have the same issue that you have with the oem head unit dude. Good luck man, and that is a sweet looking box. I will be using a SI hst12mkll on a IA20.1.

While that would be super cool I think it wouldn't fit into the budget very well.
After some more reading the 4 x 8" idea is really looking fun. So? what everyones favorite flavor of driver for

Sundown SA-8?

Skar - VVX or MA-8?

American Bass - VFL? (not crazy about the yellow cones)

Massive - Summo? (love the price)

something else?

Figure push with about 2K Watts, are the newer PPI amps actually decent? Also looking at the Massive N3.
1 15 over 4 8s.

Ya he is truly an artist with plywood isn't he ! That thing looks awesome. I want to something like that in my truck if I could ever shake the SPL bug. And when I do I will definitely be calling him !
