Well the CC and BB stories are always funny because they seem to know the least about car audio.

Anyway, I don't think I'll be buying anything from them, just letting them install. If he wants to talk about crappy SQ, I'll let him hear it in the proper size box and everything when he installs it, then I'll ask him if he's sure he was listening to an RE when he said it had shitty SQ.

So since everyone on here seems to have such hatred toward car audio shops does everybody install everything themselves. I wanted to install my stuff myself but I think all the electrical and setting all the extra stuff will be confussing, but these horror stories make me stay away from car shops. Chief

He got a pretty good deal(300 with 3 year warranty) but anyways he asks the guy if it was a dual 2 or dual 4 ohm, and if he could run it at 2 ohms. The guy tells me yea its a dual2 ohm which you can hook up at 2 ohms. I just started laughing and said they only make D4 type xs and a dual 2 can't be hooked up and 2 ohms. Then at ultimate electronics(hmm wonder why they closed), another kid I know had a zr240, that he bought from me, hooked up in his car. They kept telling him it was broke until I finally came down there and got them to double check there work. Hmm wonder why a zr240 wasn't pushing much power. Jus wondering, but where do you guys live? I figure there's a better chance of finding a quality shop if you live in a bigger city. Like I said, the shop I went to is ok, I just think that guy was aiming for some commision. But other than that he was pretty helpful. And like I said I'll be getting them to install for me. I live in Mobile, which is big enough, so we have several good shops around.

EDIT - And Bimma, technically a DVC 2 ohm sub can be hooked up in stereo and be wired at 2 ohms, so...

So where can I get some instructions or help on installing a viper 1200, and xxx in my wrx. I bought a memphis 4 guage wiring kit, the guy said I just need speaker wires. I have all summer so I figured I would give it a try installing it all myself. Chief

My friend had 4 12" kicker comps in his escalade and the bass was laughable, he paid like $1200 for tht system and it was quite hilarious.

kenwoods do often need repair, most especially the flip ones. the problem with the flip ones is the wire tape (totally forget its actual term, but it looks like a slimmer smaller IDE cable) that connects the flip screen to the rest of the unit often breaks or comes loose.

as for the shops. a guy that lives in my area is the most honest dude i know. he uses zapco, treo, dynaudio, etc... you get the point. you wont ever hear him **** another company or product. he is probably the top guy within 100 miles of my town. he is just a good guy that is in it for the love of the game not for the money. the most knowledgable person that i have talked to about car audio too.

just a note....he did a super air nautique that is kind of his flagship install. it is fully sponsored by zapco/treo. when he did the install, he brought down an engineer from zapco, treo, and nautique. that is the level of work he does. i am sure he could have done it himself but when doing something, he wants to make sure he is doing it right. he is not one bit full of himself either.
