Got my alternator today.(Need help fast.)

Doesn't sound like the DC i know, Dave and Rob both talked to me personally and gave me their cell #s in case i had ANY problems. Don't know what the issue was with your experience, but they may have been developing you kit is why it took a week, and whoever you left a message with might have not put it where Rob saw it.
x2 on that,If you still want an alternator from them i can call him right now and get answers.he ALWAYS answers the phone and returns my calls.

DC makes great shit. I've been wanting to try out a triple bracket for awhile.
Its an anwesome bracket and kit. .did you see the pics of mine?

I sure hope your not talking about dc....... Mechman aint even a custom shop.. They wouldn't even attempt to make duals for my truck... Robbie and dave have probly the best

Customer service out there. Where else can you talk to the guy who built ur alt direct on a Sunday and even after hours

x222

there customer support is bar far the best out there i have experienced.he may have lost your info simply forgot about it. .as rarely as that is . . heck rob just GAVE an alternator to a guy on smd because he felt so sorry for this guy getting ****ED by iraggi.supposedly the guy BOUGHT a 300 amp i believe and the guy took it apart showing it off on smd and rob was like man all you got is a 130 factory alternator.....so rob GAVE him one of his AND payed shipping there AND paid the return label back to get the irragi alt sent back to him so he can show everybody how hes scamming people.and on mechman i wont even go there butmy buddy. .the owner of rdaudio bought a tripple kit from him and within 2 months ALL 3 OF HIS ALTS failed.

anyways not trying to dump on your thread man.Either way it goes i hope you get your problem resolved.

Ill shoot you a pm just incase this doesnt work out for me. I just need to buy a bigger belt so it could reach my alt. Ill see how it goes from there.

i called rob i gave him my info and card number for payment after a week passed by ..by that time i was expecting the alt and nothing called again and left my number with one of there workers and didnt get a call back.. i got tired of calling and emailin.. seems like they didnt want to sell me an alt or idk wat was the problem
I just talked to Robbie and he said him and Dave are the only ones that are at the shop and answer the phone. You may have by chance talked to someone who's a relative of Dave but I highly doubt it. Dave even said no one else is allowed to answer the phone, if neither of them can answer it then it goes to voicemail.

Did you call them around the time of SBN or CES? Or around the holidays? Robbie goes back home every other week to Salt Lake City and Dave is the only person you can talk to unless you have Robbies cell.

Then it must of being one of the relatives then, because when I said ''I'm calling regarding an alternator I ordered'' and the guy said that I must of talk to Rob and I said ''Yeah'' so he just told me to leave my details and never got a call back.

Nope. I called them when none of those comps/shows were taking place, neither during holiday season. I was just dissapointed with the CS. I have nothing against there product I know its top of the line stuff. Just bad CS provided to me. Hopefully in the future when I order another alt Ill deff go with DC to see how it turns out.

So have you spoken to Matt @ mechman?

They have a phone number that you can call and reach him directly. If there is a fit problem he can easily correct it.

Try emailing mlogan@mechman.com rather than PMing as he might not be on the forums but he is always on his computer at work.

As for the belt, it's not uncommon to have to replace the belt with a longer unit when going with an aftermarket alternator. And rather than worrying about the factory alternator wiring connecting to the alternator shouldn't you be replacing it with 1/0 anyway? I think that's in the instructions too. Same with the ground that had the lug bolted to the alternator case.

I sent him an email a sec ago.

Yeah I have 1/0 on it too. But isnt it reccomendable to keep the stock wires connected also?

also, if matt says to send tha alt back so he could make a direct fitment, that'll be ok but if i need to modified my cars brackets etc i'd rather send it back to get a refund and give DC another try.

Oh Boy, where to begin...

First of all, a simple phone call or e-mail (during buisiness hours) probably would be a much more effective way to recieve knowledgable tech support, as opposed to throwing it out to a bunch of internet-comentators on a public forum.

The stock cable is too small to carry 250 amps, and should not be used. As it says in the instructions, simply run a 1/0 cable from the positive charge lead connection to the positive terminal of the battery, and tape off the end of the stock charge cable. This is clearly illustrated in the instructions.

A longer belt will be required. This is normal, and also mentioned in the instructions.

The stock alternator plug will plug directly into the regulator harnes, and the male plug will plug directly into the new alternator.

There should be no user-modifications required for fitment. We will send you a longer top bracket assymbly, that will rotate the alternator and allow the stock bottom bracket to reach the hole without hitting the case. I will need to investigate why it did not bolt directly in, because all of our kits are designed to bolt in with simple hand tools, with little or no fabrication necessary. Please contact me directly so we can get your invoice # and info.

Please don't say things when you have no idea what you are talking about.

We have a 5,000 square foot wharehouse, 1,000 square foot fabrication shop (tig, mig, benders, plasma table) a 2,000 square foot machine shop (two CNC 3 axis machines, CNC lathe, and two vertical mills) and a 500 square foot test labritory with over $200K worth of alternator dyno equipment. To say that we are not a "custom shop" simply because we didn't make a dual alternator bracket kit for your truck, is a very ignorant statement.

DC power will sell you a stock housing stator-swapped Denso unit, just like every other alternator company will. It will do OK at higher RPMS, but will have lousy output at idle, and probably NEVER make 250 amps at any RPM. Not to mention, that it will have much less cooling and half the rectifier.

I'm not saying anything bad about DC power, all I'm saying is that we take a very different approach. You can't make an 8" sub moove as much air as a 15" sub, and the same holds true for an alternator. If you want the ultimate in alternator beefyness, sometimes it takes a little "squeezing" to get it in there.

Seems like you are having way to many problems for something that should of fit in its right spot. I would of settled on a direct replacement higher output alt. No way would i start cutting wires and hacking brackets to get that to fit.
