Good 12" Sub at 650W RMS Sealed??

With the amp that I have, there is 650W RMS on tap @ 4 Ohms.

Center Console Box volume is 0.95 Sealed (before displacement). Maximum mounting depth is 7”

I want to run one 12” sub and I listen to mostly rap/hip-hop music and want it to be pretty loud, but also fairly clear. I realize that I can’t have it all, but a good mix would be great.

The subs I am looking at are the DC LvL 3 and the Diamond Audio D6.

I am open to other sub options as well, but wanted to get some opinions on what everyone thought would be a good setup.

I posted a thread similar to this a while back, but I have now bought a smaller amp so I need some new ideas.

Thanks for the help,

Brent

Alpine type R? basic sub and its something you know will sound good most likley.. or take a chance and go with something less mainstream like SSA.. ive heard a lot of good about DC to. maybe you should try the DC. Also your box is ur center console? are you in a truck? just curious

Infinity Kappa 120.9w or Image Dynamics IDQV3 could work well. Their optimal qtc box is around 1.2. The former has "only 350watt" RMS power handling, but it's seems like well engineered sub. I wouldn't be surprised if they under rate it. 1cu ft could work acceptably for Alpine Type R as well, but enclosure is a tad too small for it. This will result in less than optimal SQ with Type-R (compared to larger box).

Haze, I still want the DC, but I just didn't know if they truly needed more power than 650W. The guys at DC said 750-800 daily on that sub would be great. I want to make sure to give it enough power.

I am also looking at the Diamond Audio D6, does anyone know anything about that sub??

Thanks!

Just keep in mind that Dayton HOs have terrible efficiency. I wouldn't run them on a Class A amplifier just because of that. With 600watts on tap, they will be at best as loud as subs like Type-R or my Kappa 120.9w running on 300watts RMS. However, the Daytons get the job done well in very tight installs due to small box size requirement. For Type R, 1cu ft box could be on the limit of how small you can go without adversely affecting SQ and efficiency. The HO would run happily in a much smaller box. xmax is also kinda low by year 2010 standards. However, they're among the lowest distortion subwoofers out there.
