You don't know how lucky you are that the HU deal "fell through". Now what you need to do is spend tons of time reading and researching the basics of car audio. A great HU is key, if you already have the necessary components of a "system". You do not. Asking questions in the forums is great for a specific issue, buy you would really do better to scroll through the threads and read up on different topics. It isn't rocket science, but it aint 3rd grade math either. Do your homework (and lots of it), so you don't regret your decisions. Again, lucky you didn't drop about 65% of your budget on the HU. There are at least a half dozen brands that will give you great performing subs and amps, and nearly any combination will really impress you. Don't run out and buy the first thing you see that gets a great review or more than five people say that they love. One piece at a time, so you know how the changes affect the result. And remember, you can always upgrade and change something later. EVERYBODY does eventually. I do all the time. In other words, pick up some basic knowledge before jumping on Pay Pal and snatching up the first brand name you recognize. I often look for weeks and weeks before making a change to mine. Good luck dude.
