~Getting a New System! - $800 budget~

knukonceptz has a nice 4 awg kit for 26.99

I would get that along with a single sub for now.

as other have said. re se, type r, aq sd2.5

possibly find a kicker 750.1 , a hifonics amp or something else.

I would recommend that 4awg wire kit from knu.

Then id see what power is out there for an amp. Buy an amp first, then sub. Then see if you can get your hands on a Type R or something cheap.

Btw, im 17 and im loud. Also, you made a mistake by joining this forum. I didnt know anything about car audio till last oct. and now ive got $3000+ invested in the stuff. I would suggest you buy stuff from the classifieds section and then bail ASAP. You dont wanna get sucked into the addiction.

Ended up not being able to purchase the head unit due to insufficient funds in my Paypal account--I'll have to add some $$ later. So, we start with a blank slate with $800 in total. Many of you are saying Alpine Type-R subs, like this? What amp would go good with those?

Good, finally getting a real setup. Type R's are good for the money. Put it in a CUSTOM box, do not buy premade! Someone here can design/build it for you.

Give it aroudn 600-800 watts and it'll wang. And if you want two...even better.

You don't know how lucky you are that the HU deal "fell through". Now what you need to do is spend tons of time reading and researching the basics of car audio. A great HU is key, if you already have the necessary components of a "system". You do not. Asking questions in the forums is great for a specific issue, buy you would really do better to scroll through the threads and read up on different topics. It isn't rocket science, but it aint 3rd grade math either. Do your homework (and lots of it), so you don't regret your decisions. Again, lucky you didn't drop about 65% of your budget on the HU. There are at least a half dozen brands that will give you great performing subs and amps, and nearly any combination will really impress you. Don't run out and buy the first thing you see that gets a great review or more than five people say that they love. One piece at a time, so you know how the changes affect the result. And remember, you can always upgrade and change something later. EVERYBODY does eventually. I do all the time. In other words, pick up some basic knowledge before jumping on Pay Pal and snatching up the first brand name you recognize. I often look for weeks and weeks before making a change to mine. Good luck dude.

Look on craigslist to save on shipping. Here are a few in Charlotte.

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/ele/1280310085.html (offer 50 but 70 is not bad use box while you build a box and then sell the box on craigslist for 20-30 bucks)

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/pts/1276331639.html (Offer him 175 bucks for the amp)

25 bucks for a sheet of MDF

35 Bucks for wiring

285 dollars for sub, amp, box,and wiring

http://charlotte.craigslist.org/ele/1272052516.html ( little bit more money for subs and box but with the right amp you might be one of the loudest at your high school)

You can get 1 12" Alpine Type R for ~125 shipped off ebay.

Refurb. Hifonics 1208D that will do 800-900 RMS at 1 ohm for ~170

A good 2 cu ft box PORTED 100-150 at a local shop or builder on this site

Knukonceptz wire is really cheap too and great quality.

That's around 450-500 which leaves you ~300 for a HU which can get you something pretty nice.

*Those are prices off the top of my head and I'm sure you can look and find for MUCH cheaper.

if you want something that kicks, go for either a single 12" Fi BTL or a 12" JL W7, they sound as good as any 2 12"s ive ever heard, and screw your faggy hu //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

you know if you have a good $800 to spend, just take your car to an audio installer shop, and tell him your situation, tell him what you want and he'll hook

you up the next day

my friend did that and he ****s shit up for only $500

That's the worst advice iv'e heard so far...

Hmm...so here is a hypothetical setup. Tell me what you think. (Note: all prices include shipping)

[$175] Amp: HIFONICS BXi-1208D CLASS D MONO AMP CAR SUB AMPLIFIER

[$245] Subs: 2 ALPINE SWR-1242D 12"SUBWOOFERS TYPE-R NEW SUB WOOFERS

[$35] Amp Installation Kit: KLM Complete 4 Gauge Amp Installation Kit Will this kit work with the aforementioned amp and subs?

[$145] Estimated Cost of Box: Probably get this made locally by a car audio place. I'm not going to attempt to flex my construction skills //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

[$200] Head Unit: With this setup, I'll only have $200 left for a head unit. Not sure what to get yet.

Am I forgetting anything?

That is trash.
What's that matter? Just because you're young, you can't be loud?
you need to chill the **** out BROSEPH, why dont you help the kid out, he obviously ****ing stated he is a noob incase you are too illiterate to notice that you ignorant ****.

As far as your budget goes, save up a little man and you can get some decent stuff, stay away from the bigger brands you will pay more, so such as mtx/jl/alpine/pioneer and the list goes on. Install the deck spend a little time on here each day while you save up some cheese and by the time you have the money to buy something you will be glad you did some research on here because you will be more than happy with what you end up with.
