Gain starting vs end point

on my amp (hifonics 1208d) the gain starts at 9v and you rotate it right and it goes all the way to .2v.. if i want to increase the gain do i turn it left toward 9v or right towards .2v and why please

all my other gains are fine.. i was just confused as to why going down in voltage would increase the gain.. why is it like that?

Because the range is based on the voltage input.

If you were supplying it 9V of input signal, you would want the gain set to the minimum. If you only had .2V of input signal, you'd want the gain set to maximum.
