Everything is a blur.. sq sub choices

If offered in a 15" over a 12 (pertaining to capable drivers) I would always choose the 15. The only reason I can think of for not getting it is space; but who the hell needs trunk room? Nobody, that's who. Except golfers and housewives.
lol, care to elaborate why the 15" would be better than the 12's? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Learn me sumthin'! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/toast.gif.bc0657bf54b9ee653b6438524461341e.gif

Just want to thank everyone for the suggestions //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
I am printing spec sheets out right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Focal explains what I want in 1 sentence: "Deep and articulate bass" lol, just thought i'd throw that in //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Now, these all are SQ subs, but which of them are gonna get me that deep (15hz-10hz) bass?? The Aliante 15" claims it can burp out 15hz with ease. Any of the others able to do this??
12 or 15" brahma or the XXX is one of the best bets in the entire listing for what you are asking from it. Head-to-head testing will prove any of the above choices will delve lower than the D2, and have more headroom to them while doing so.

I had the same problem this last week. I only have 1100x1 rms at 1ohm and wanted a 15xxx. The rep told me on the phone that he did not recommend the 15xxx with that amont of power. The 15xxx is rated at 1600rms but probably can take much more.

Have you looked at the RE SE's. They will probably work a little better for you. They are rated at 350-600w rms. The SE's don't even compare to the XXX but with just 500w rms I think that the SE's will sound alot better. If you had at least 1kw to maybe 2kw of juice then of course the XXX is the way to go.

I just bought a pair of Treo SS 12's instead of the RE's. I can tell you yet how they sound but on paper they seem to work out better for me. The are rated at 500w rms a piece.

Check them out at http://www.treoonline.com

Heavily reinforced low end. I simply like the feeling of a good low end, it's just subjective. My D2 has enough in it to make me feel odd after a couple loud songs, but a 15 would be sublime.

Well, that is exactly what I am looking for.. reinforced low end, yet good SQ //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

What determines the low end? the parameters of the speaker, or simply displacement ability?

Take for example two D2's vs 1 15" Brahma.. or A..

The 12's would have MORE displacement, correct? Would the 15" still have a more reinforced bottom end? Or would the 12's excel?

Sorry, i'm prolly getting annoying, but just want to get a PERFECT grip on all the tech related to subs before I drop the money on one //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well, for instance, the E15A will actually displace as much as two 12D2s, two 12" Brahmas, or two E12As.

Displacement determines the maximum output possible, but doesn't ultimately effect frequency response until you've reached maximum displacement.

The biggest factors for lowend are BL and Mms. Compare any two designs of the same diameter, and the driver with the lower BL and higher Mms will have more low frequency output.

Remember that the larger the diameter of the driver (and assuming a similar suspension compliance on the two drivers), the more Mms is required to achieve the same Fs.
