It is 15 hz for a person with really good hearing. Anything lower than that won't be picked up by our earsisn't anything under about 22hz not able to be heard to the human ear??
Do you have the slightest idea what you're talking about?I think that the none of those are SQ subs except the JL audio. But i would not reccomed that u buy those.Get something like MB Quart or an SQ oriented company.
Gotta love Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gif :thumbs_upDo you really know how low 15-10hz is?
Unless you listen to cannon blasts for fun, you'll never go down that low with 99% of music.
When you speak of audiophile, which drivers are you talking about? The Adire/D2/XXX? or the Focal, Velodyne, Aliante, etc???Honestly, most of the "audiophile" subs are a waste of money, IMO. They do a good job, but with such unremarkable displacement levels, they are going to have MORE distortion than many of the other mentioned drivers, despite what their marketing might try and tell you...
Well, after some thinking, I think I want to go with dual 12" subs instead of a 15"
Auditioned some JL's before coming home tonight... (again, anyways) two 12" W3v2's and a single 15" W3. Took some Crystal Method and KM Kings up and cranked away. The dual 12's walked all over the 15 in both deep bass and SQ. That 15W3 was kinda sloppy, IMO. However, it could be a bad setup/box. (was a local car audio shop demo room)
The 12W3v2's sound great, and I would have no qualms buying them (179.99 apiece) but if there is better out there, then I want to have it, ****it! lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif I like this guy... he reminds me of myself //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/banghead.gif.8606515f668c74f6de0281deb475b6fd.gifTheoretically the threshold of our hearing is 20 Hz - 20k Hz. Women can typically hear frequencies higher and lower than men can. Men's hearing usually doesn't extend past 16k Hz very well - I can't hear very well past 18k Hz. I can tell there is something going on past 18k Hz, but there's definately not a clearly defined note up there to me. I think a lot of people on this forum would be surprised with the results if they were to take a hearing test. On the low-end, I can hear down to ~22 Hz before the note disappears and it's becomes a pressure difference to me.
BUT, sub sonics kick a$$! There are few things better than sitting in your car/home and having things around you start shaking before you hear any music. And going back to a previous post about weird speakers - the Hartley 24" sub reproduced sub sonics better than any other sub I've heard to date. Sound-wise it had zero distortion down in the extreme lows and was incredibly accurate. Too bad it didn't get very loud. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
Well, I don't really live IN newark, I work at the Licking County JVS on Price Road (north 21st), but I really live in Buckeye Lake, Ohio, real close to Captain Woody's and Papa Boo's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifWe can shake the steering columb on my dad's SUV using the stomps on Jurassic Lunch (Telarc Demo CD - I belive the first stomp is ~14 seconds into the track) with 1 sealed Magnum and less than 600 watts. The stomps are definately sub sonic, but I'm not sure what frequency they are centered at. The CD itself, however, has a warning on it about containing information as low as 8 hz. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif The Magnum will also reproduce 16 Hz organ fundamentals without any problem. Just ask anyone else on the forum that runs them; Jake, Kevin, Noah, Mark, etc. I'm sure they would be more than willing to put their 2 cents worth in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
BTW: I see that you're from Newark Ohio. I used to live in Newark until I moved down here (NC) in 1992. What part of Newark do you live in?
