Electrical a bit overated, no big 3

Ok i want to throw this out there to inspire some confidence is stock electrical systems, mostly because many upgrades are often advised to get but truely arent needed.

Most people i have met on this website are big SPL guys (comps and stuff)

I am not as many of you have realized. I love SPL but i am not a comp guy.

Just as an example for te last 2 years i have ran the same system.

2 amps equaling 1600 watts rms

Prior to that i had only run 1000 rms for a year

Now... back 2 years ago, i was on a forum similar to this and i let everyone know "hey i am upgrading, getting another amp" everyone was like "YOU MUST WATCH YOUR VOLTAGE AND UPGRADE BIG 3" well i went out and bought a voltage gauge to go on my dash.

To this day i still have....

The same stock battery i bought the car with

the same stock alternator

NO CAPS

and i have no dimming unless i stop at a red light. Then you can barely tell, but a car audio guy can see it. (my wife is like, i cant see any thing, your crazy)//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

the whole point of this thread is to evaluate the situtation before immediatly spending a grand on batterys. So of you guys run 1000000 watts and need the big 40 battery upgrade... this is completely understandable, but homeboy with his first kicker amp running 300 watts rms doesnt need a deep cell battery nor a alternator upgrade unless your driving a model T.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Like i said, i would be labeled a SQ (no such thing as SQL... WTF?) so you comp guys keep that in mind.

in 2006 middle of production they switched from a 90amp to a 120 amp. i have the 90 amp alternator.
I have been running ~1400rms on a 60amp......

what has to be considered with the big 3 is what size alt you have and what gauge wire is factory on the vehicle. I have seen 90 amp alts with 10 and 12 gauge power and ground. Those vehicles really need the big 3. others have a 60 amp and 2awg.

HOLY SHYT YOU HAVE FAST INTERNET

Thats why 2 gauge, its thick enough to do work..alot of kids think 2 gauge is what you upgrade too when installing thicker wire...0 gauge is unknown to them.

Whatever works work...

anyways, i think that most people with a medium size setup as mine should test their system with out electrical upgrades. just dont run the stereo with the engine off. AND NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER CAP!
