I got this used Latitude D600 for $260 shipped. Pentium Mobile 2.0Ghz, CD/RW, wireless, 40gb HD and 512mb Ram. Bumped it up to 1GB for $30. Does everything I want but play new games, and its fast as hell with XP. Cool part is it still had 250 days of Dell Gold support on it when I got it. Company has about 150 other D600's with the 1.6 Centrinos left which are also good choices for a budget. Just have to read the descriptions and find one with no damage notes, as some have light dents on the case/screen etc. Mine is perfect.

They also have several hundred desktops for sale. You can get a Dell Optiplex GX270 slim case 2.8ghz P4 with 512mb of ram and Cd/RW for like $110.
