Downfiring sub box

Just left from getting a quote. He didn’t recommend having the port fire in the passenger side panel. He insisted I have the port fire forward between the buckets. Also quoted me $750 for an unfinished box for a single 12”. I’m about to just attempt this myself. I just need someone to help with blueprints.

I did multiple systems in my Chevy s10 before I found what I liked. I downfired sealed alpine type R 12s with ok results. Did a forward firing ported box with the same subs with better results by far. Upfired a ported Rockford 15 with decent results. its hard to tell really, because I had so many systems with different wattages and sub configurations, that comparing them to one another isn’t very scientific and probably unreliable, however, the best sounding sub I had was a focal polyglass sub with the sub firing forward and the port sideways firing into the drivers side door. It wasn’t the loudest, but the focal sub was way less power than any of the other subs I had used. In that configuration, that focal sub sounded great, and even being a lower power sub, it had impressive output. In my experience in that truck, sub forward with port firing sideways seemed to be the configuration to go with for me.
