Car audio in my room..

Like I said, I understand why people want to use what's already lying around, but when I see that you put enough work into the cabinets to make real speakers, then I feel the need to explain that you could have built real speakers that would sound better for the same price.

This is a common thread here and people love to talk about how cheap computer powersupplies are, but fail to realize you can get much bettter HT stuff for what you have invested in the CA gear.

That budget set of woofers and tweeter with crossovers would definetly sound better than any co-axials.

You can use two woofers per side without a problem, but it will change the type of crossover that is needed. You don't want two tweeters per side. That's a big problem with your current set up. Two point sources of highs, per side, will cause phasing and comb filtering problems and reduce clairity.

Spend some time over at Madisound and parts express speaker building page ("product showcase"page) and you'll see what others have done for not alot of money.

Thank man, I'll look into it. It'll have to work for now, but some day when I can afford to expand i'll look into replacing the coax with mids and get some good tweeters... but for now, it'll work, i have more important things to blow money on lol...

But I ended up convincing myself i needed a little amp and some 8s out of this, and i can always use them in a small car in the next year or so... so i was trying to condense spending as much as possible lol...

Thanks for the info though, I'll definitely look into it.

where did you hook the psu up to the amp? and how does the music get to the speakers rca to headphones? im curious i wanna try this.
Yellow wires to the + black to the - on your amp, headphone to left and right RCA for the source. I use my computer and it sounds pretty good.

this may sound stupid but could you post a pic of how you get the signal to the amp? I plan on doing somthing similar with stuff I have laying around I just haven't figured out how to get signal from the comp to the amp

2 more question before i give it a shot. did you use all your black wires from the psu? on my psu i have quite a few of them and in your pics it doesn't seem like you have too many. if you wanna explain how to series psu's together that would be awesome, if not its cool too. im gonna do more lookin around.

put all blacks together on both powersupplies and all postives together on both power supplies, but live 1 positive out for the remote and your good to go.

lol off subject if the thread isnt already but evanhurford read your pms. lol

and cookie......what u mean put all blacks together? racist? lol jk
Haha nice. And to YeahToast, you could wire them up in series, but it would run everything at 24v not 12v lol... bad idea. if you wire two up, make sure they're very close in voltage ratings with a dmm and that they put out the same amperage... otherwise, one might go up in smoke lol... good luck man.

Been running mine for months now, never had a problem.
