Heh, I was saying that on the first page... But I got flamed for it. Apparently, we are supposed to be really kind and gentle to people who come in and spam dumbass questions...

who say's they are dumbass questions? who writes the standards to say what is a dumbass question? did U answer that same question 3 years ago? two years ago? last year? last week?....

here's the deal, and i'm not trying to flame, just point out the other side of the coin......the search feature does ****. like the not enough characters response....

if it's a question that is just been answered..post the link...if the question isn't in an active (not in the first couple of pages) answer if u wish, post a link or just stay out of it. how hard is that? are ppl so hungry for post count that they'll post " use the search button"..why not post the link and say " read this, it should anwser ur question"..now ur a hero, not a flamer...

get over the newbies asking the same questions...IT ISN"T GOING TO STOP! this little spat about using the search is at least three years old, probably older. MOVE ON....either answer the question or don't...but u don't have to respond with " use the search"

oh and for the ppl who'll say " why should i have to do the work"..u find and post stupid pics...u take the time to post " use the search and ur an idiot"...especially mods...if it's an age old question, guide them to the answer, post a link and then reference the search button..i mean, aren't mods supposed to be the ones who know what and where threads are and what is going on in them? so whay not do the "mature" thing and post a link, guide them to the answer....and remember this..

I've never had a problem finding general information. Telling people to use the search is NOT a spat, it's what people do everywhere. For some reason this forum isn't quite there yet so to speak... In most forums, people know NOT to post stupid, repetitive questions, and if they do, someone says "use the search" or "read the faq", and then the thread is closed. I don't know why people in this forum are against that... Hell, where I go, just using poor grammar/spelling will get you flamed to death. It's not about being uptight, acting superior, it's about having a certain standard so that the forums don't become full of pointless posts. I think if the members here took a harder stance against those kind of threads, it wouldn't be such a problem.

Maybe it's just the subject of the forum that draws these people, I don't know. The DJ forums I frequent don't have this problem, and the IRC chans I'm in don't have the stupid people/bad typing that caraudio.com does either.

exactly...every question ever asked has already been asked and answered. including the topic of using the search button...three years ago, two years ago...yada,yada,yada...

someone pointed out the 12 to 50 (i remember someone saying they were over 50) year olds...maybe that's some of the problem, i dunno...

and prodigy, i'm not saying ur in a spat, though we kinda are, what i'm sayin is this arguement about newbies and using the search is an ongoing spat...one that'll never be resolved. why? because it doesn't matter if everyone gets in a thread and says use the search..it doesn't matter if there is a thread posted that says all newbies use the search button first..it is exactly like depression stated...they will always feel like their question is somehow unique..hence the search button won't yeild the answer....

what i'm saying..instead of crashing the noobs, and i GUARANTEE they don't think their question is stupid and who are we to say otherwise? maybe mis-informed, maybe un-informed, but not stupid....i remember asking some of the questions ur talking about now....but instead of crashing down on ppl...direct them or ignore them...again, remember this..some of the questions i answered 3 years ago..u haven't got to answer..maybe ur opinion is different and that is what drives these forums
