For reference, I want the best audio quality I can get at this price. Not those ****** inaccurate boomy bass systems.

I know nothing about car audio. I own a lot of home theater audio though. I own a civic, so I am guessing front only speakers right?

So I need a:

-headunit

-subwoofer(s?)

-amp for headunit?

-amp for sub?

-sound proof for car

Is this all I need?

Can you guys pick out a basic $2000 audio setup (including the cost of paying someone to do it for me, I have no clue) to give me an overview of EVERYTHING I should be buying, please help! thanks
This is going to be fun to watch.... but my first suggestion is a Pioneer 80prs from @mylows10 ;
I agree.

also i would check out audio technix b stock (only has 80 mill left) and pick up one or two rolls.
your wires could also be had from audio technix (great wire and a good price)

Nice suggestion. At B-stock prices he could easily do his whole vehicle in 80mil and stay on budget. dash to taillights 80 mil..... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

I forgot to add. I dont own cds. i had tons of them, ripped them on iTunes using Apple Lossless, then sold the cds. So I need a receiver that has a Ipod DAC bypass

Does sound proofing make a big difference?

that pioneer has a bypass for the ipod dac plus a crap ton of other sound tuning features. its a great deck really

worth every penny, also consider closed cell foam, and mass loaded vinyl to get rid of road noise and keep the music in.

and that pioneer 80prs will work perfect for you, plays]

sd card slot

2 usbs

aux in

and supports just about every file out there.
