Buick Rendezvous build

But OP you are no where near painting that shit, you need alota body filler and alot of sanding. You might be painting next week lol
But a good way to measure volume of a fiberglass enclosure is use something like packing peanuts, get a 12x12x12 cardboard box and pour the peanuts in it to get a reasonable guess.
True that. And props for calling it body filler instead of "Bondo." That bugs me shit out of me.

Another good way of measuring volume is using the beans out of a beanbag chair.

WAY too much resin. When there is too much resin in any fiberglass piece, the strength the fiberglass WOULD have slowly decreases, as resin is very brittle by itself. The lack of reinforcement makes cracking almost inevitable.
Also, you should do all of your fiberglass layers in one sitting, and use MINIMAL resin, just enough to wet the mat out. A roller helps with this. If you absolutely MUST do your layers in different sittings, sand the dried layer before applying more mat.

What weight mat did you use? What brand/type of resin? How many layers? I would be very skeptical about using alot of power in that box. I would add layers around the insides of the rings for extra strength.

Edit: Lot's of air bubbles, as well. These are weak points in fiberglass, grind them out and fill them with glass (correctly) or with a fiberglass reinforced body filler, like Duraglass or Kitty Hair.
i did notice these problems. the last few layers are a lot better than the 1st few. i got a lot better with the air bubbles. i didnt have a roller. i didnt find out about using one till i was almost done. i did put a little glass on the inside of the rings. also glassed the dowels in place. i have another gallon of resin left over so i had planed on adding more later. its been raining every day and i just wanted to get it in the car so i could hear it.

think another layer or 2 done better would save it? i have layed on it and it felt solid.

this is my 1st time touching fiberglass and i knew all along that failure was an option.

If you can stand on it, it should be ok, I just wanted to stress the reinforcement around the rings. I have heard/seen horror stories of rings detatching after seeing power for some time.

Idskot i agree, WOT you still call car audio ICE, quit being a ***.

i know i need body filler. i have a friend that knows how to do bondo and painting really well. once the glass is done i hand it over to him.

ya i was worried about the rings as well. ill put another layer on them just to be safe.

i used cloth and mat. i noticed the mat is much stronger. i got everything from home depot.

If you try glassing again, order your stuff from uscomposites.com.

Get B440 premium layup resin, .75z mat, a roller, etc. Then invest in a good body filler, preferably evercoat products. This will make the next project MUCH easier. I can't express how much of a difference quality products make.

Mat is generally stronger (depending on weight) than cloth because of the pattern the mat is woven into. Mat contains fibers going in all different directions, whereas the fibers in cloth go in two directions perpindicular to each other.

well i wish i had this help sooner but it definatly helps. thanks a lot guys. ill find a roller and see what i can do with what i have left over.
