Budget SQ Building - Help Please?

3 way active allows you to send the right frequency to each of the 6 channels ,2 frt ,2 back and 2 sub ,this is a vital component that you will need for the sq system.what you want to do will break down the signal from the deck so bad that it wont sound god in the end .
Oh yeah mine has that. So am I covered on that then?

actually it does not , at least not like the 80 prs.trust me i've been into car audio prolly longer than you've been alive .there are only a hand full of decks that are as good or better than the 80 and yours isn't one of them .

Then I'll take your word for it and factor this into my decision making process. Thanks alot for the help guys. I really appreciate it.

Plus your JVC only has 2.5 volt outputs and a 3 band EQ.
80PRS has 5 volt outputs and 16 band left and right EQ. Plus a shit load of other SQ goodness. I have 2 and love them.
Now, just a quick question. What's the difference between 5v outpootst and 2.5v outputs?

observation: you're looking more for daily driver than sq

look into image dynamics ctx65cs

Incriminator audio lethal injection or an idmax (if you go sealed buy 2 subs)

And that pioneer head unit they told you to get for starters

I did a budget sq build.

125new- CLarion dxz775usb - 3way active, 5v preouts, etc

150open box - rainbow slc 6.5 components - arguably the best sq per dollar component set.they use the same tweeters in a might higher end set.

130used- PPI Art A300 - it was 20 years old when i bought it, and 2 years of daily use later it is still strong

185new- q logic kick panels

~80used- power wire/rcas

150new - deadener

30-speaker wire

That comes out to just over $800 and is only front stage.

275new/black friday sale - incriminator audio flatlyne

205used - arc audio ks1000.

200- more wire/install/deadener

Another 700 for sq bass without a box...and there are much more expensive sq amps/head units. Also external eqs and active crossovers. It gets expensive...

What are you doing for EQ?
That Clarion has a more than capable 5 band parametric.

I could put together a very high level SQ system for $800 or less. I don't know why everyone always associates SQ with big money. CAN you spend your life savings on it? In a heartbeat. Do you HAVE to? No.

The reason SQ competitions are so complicated is because of the pages of details that have to be perfected in order to reproduce sound in it's intended sonic purity. A $1,000 speaker that is just stuffed in to an opening will sound a billion times worse than a $10 speaker installed properly. The differences in responses in speakers can be accentuated or decreased with all dependence on the install. Know your speaker, and install it into the atmosphere which suits it's sonic abilities the best.

"2-band parametric equalizer" Thats why I asked.
Shit. My bad. I don't know why I automatically asumed it was a cz702 when I saw Clarion and 3-way active. (Which the cz702 would be my choice if I were doing a budget SQ thang).

Either way... his has a 3 band parametric. About on par with a 7 band graphic but with better flexibility. Not really enough to do any real tuning, but you can fix a lot of that with install and driver choice.

Ok so I guess the way I was looking at it is I was trying to set my eq using the speakers themselves because my type-r's I have amped now have the perfect amount of midbass and I want to equal out with a bit of bass from my sub, which is actually impressive for my needs, but would like to tighten it up with a box made for it. On top of that the infinities are good for highs, or so I've been told. From there I could set my stage with the gains. Maybe we were on different pages when I say sq. I want the best sound quality I can get for me without breaking the bank, but I don't plan on entering competitions. That head unit sounds like a good thing to look into though.

So what alternative directions could I go with it to have what I want, since I really just am a research warrior. I don't have real knowledge on this stuff like you guys.

Thanks again!

Alright, well a little more looking around made me think that I could use an external equalizer, along with a frequency tuning CD to compensate for the lack of EQ settings on my head unit. Mine has a 3 band parametric equalizer built in, which has been enough up until this point, but I am unsure if this will change with more upgrading. Also, external EQ's that I've been looking at can increase my preamp voltage from what I currently have, three 2.5v outputs for front, rear, and subwoofer.
