Hello everyone, decided to install a couple of 12s in my Mustang and wondering what is a good AGM battery for 1,500 RMS with stock alternator. Not looking to spend a whole lot of money at the moment just something to get me by. Thanks.

Don’t forget to check the local farm and equipment stores. (Tractor supply, Rural King etc. ) sometimes they can have smoking deals on batteries compared to the automotive parts stores. A couple of years back I bought 31 series agm’s for my dad’s boat for $119 each.

Why do you?
I thought it was common knowledge that sustaining voltage by supplying amperage results in more wattage. Keeping the voltage above 12.5-13v (resting voltage) at full tilt also lessens the wear/tear on the battery and alternator that's trying to keep up, which helps extend the life of those components. He will see some voltage drop with a 1500W RMS amp. Why not add another battery to help support the draw so not only can the amp produce more wattage but he can also put less strain on his factory alt/batt.

I do agree with a secondary.

Thank you very much for the input. So far I have staged everything and it looks like it will be a very efficient and loud set up. I put 200 watts from a home audio source into the subs in the enclosure, again staged in the trunk, and The bass is deep Rich and Carrie's very well beyond the vehicle. It seems that the car is very responsive as far as the cabin to 31 to 38 HZ. I honestly feel like 1,500 RMS is going to be brutal. I am probably going to hold out until Black Friday sales to pick up an AGM battery to parallel to the starting battery. The weird thing is that the setup does not appear to be moving tons of air at the moment but does have an acoustic ability to throw the acoustics out to a very good distance with authority.

I've been running a 1.5-2k amps with odyssey agm and stock alternator in a 2002 GMC Envoy for the last 11 years
and my stock 22 year old alternator is still doing its job.

My voltage never dips below 13.7v or so.
