Breaking in new sub-woofer?

Indeed, at least it shows that we can disagree but still be civil which most of these debates turn ugly and full of a rage lol...
This one won't though. Just two guys talking "shop" if you will.
That's what's nice, you don't have eCrack and some of those other guys in here letting their egos get in the way.

Why thanks.....I think haha.
that was a compiment, lol... sick and tired of guys on here trying to compare d1ck sizes everytime one doesnt agree with the other, lol

i was giving a compiment bro

Its a well mannered debate because both of us are more interested in understanding the truth than we are in being right. If Im wrong, Id want to know, instead of bullying my way into appearing correct. I know and respect pro-rabbit enough to realize he feels the same way.

Far too many people put their ego on the line when they get into a debate, and that is what leads to anger over differences in opinion.

Well, I went through all my notes/pictures/videos from various tests. I wanted to check to ensure I remember as I did.

However, with great regret yet enjoyment I have found why "I think" those particular drivers failed as they did and in the manner they did.

I emailed my new findings to all the companies involved and even had a lengthy phone conference with one and it would seem that I'm on the right track with the issue.

I can not say what it is really at this point, but I can say 100% that the idea of "break in" even in my remote cases is a myth. The failures I had would surface over time regardless and they all seem to have the same issue.

About all I can say on that, lol.

i have never broken in a sun a day in my life. ill come right out of the gate full power. but this comes with some understanding that if you play it on low notes things can happen. enclosure, tuning, frequencies being played can mess up a sub new or used. common sense should be your break in.

only thing you will have if its a high powered setup if a slight stink from the coil once the glue has gotten warm for the first time. this is just thermal, if no clipping is going on. other then that i have never had one **** thing happen to a sub from 600w-1500w per driver. now im on around a true 2800w per driver with no issues.

i think the coil will over heat and the glue will get heated up and the coil is just going to touch the magnet
If your coil is rubbing due to heat expansion it is a very poorly designed driver. We had some coils wound recently for a particular application and the FIRST thing we took into account was keeping enough room to allow for expansion from heat. Metal expands when heated, this will happen whether a coil is fresh or 50 years old and played every day.

The failures I had would surface over time regardless and they all seem to have the same issue.
Confirms my suspicion.

I know from personal experience I build a sub and "break in" consists of beating it with everyting I've got. If it fails it's because I fuxed up building it....or am just abusing it (I've broken subs at all stages of their life cycle through abuse).

I suspect the common failures we hear about are from poor quality materials and adhesives or poor quality control in the build process...or some combination.

Please allow two weeks of break-in time for the subwoofer to reach optimum performance. To get the best performance

from your new Kicker subwoofers, we recommend using genuine Kicker Accessories and Wiring.

this if from the kicke cvr owners manual its located right under the wiring diagram of the speakers i got 2 12'' cvr but i didnt give the full tilt untill about 5 or 6 days after i got them then my F****** amp fried so i orderd a new one and im waiting on it to get here and i will again give them a few days to get their work out on but i dont think it takes 2 weeks just go eazy for a few days the crank the S**** up if it breaks take it back
