Bought 2 RE audio 18 SX's....... and....

on the hinfonics brutus 2600 the negatives and positives are right beside each other like this :
-- ++ the wiring if you look on the video, is crossed from 1 positive, to 1 negative, and then repeated for the other speaker wire. This is what lead me to belive it is not at 1ohm because i thought they where internally connected so it should be comming out with 1 pair of speaker wire connected strickly to the ++ and then another speaker wire connected to the -- a and run in parralell with the subwoofers or in series or somthing shouldnt it ?

This lack of ability to proove what my ohm's where is what really upset me about my installer, he wouldnt even test them when i asked him he just said

"it hammers doesnt it, dont touch anything" and didnt pull his ohm meter or w/e it is called out and test it for me.

Well those subwoofers are long gone, so there is nothing i can do about those. But i can deffinatly make sure to avoid going back to the same place, This system is starting to add up in cost and i dont want any stupid errors this install especially since my subwoofers have been custom built to D4 and NEED to be wired up propperly.
All positives should be connected together and all negatives should be connected together. It looks to me like that's the way it is in the video but I'm not sure. Buy a cheap dmm and you can check for yourself on the next one. They can be found for ~$10 here.

tomarow when it is nice and sunny outside i will take my camera and get a nice close up of the speaker terminals on the amp and the wiring the guy at futureshop did on it, it is still soldered from him, although my amp wrack came so loose and slid all over my big 0 gauge cable came loose and my amp was cutting in and out and also my speaker cable for one of the subwoofers got yanked almost out of the amplifier but the solder held it in. urgh, kind of why i want to find another installer to finish the job.

Greg at RE audio has suppyed me with a TON of pictures of the hole build process for my subwoofers ! here they are, i thought i would share them with you all !

They look AWSOME //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif and they are being shipped out today, 4-7 days from now i will have them.

** IMAGES BEING REPOSTED **

whats up with the middle cones in the last picture are those just not finished ?

anyways i hope you guys enjoyed those pictures ! this thread can probably be moved to a build journal area now, since everything i post in here from now on will be videos/pictures of the install and the running setup.

i CANT wait to get thease things ! big shout out to RE audio and especially greg, the production/customer service manager, HES THE MAN!

Holy Giant Pics, Batman!!!
Seriously, could you reduce those a bit? Thats cool for them to take pics of the build process for you, but those pics are huge.
re-sizing and re-posting now haha ! when those first uploaded i was like uh-o.........

He soldered the speaker wire to the amp?

thats awsome to hear ! how are they for SPL ? they gonna rattle doors on 2600 rms ? hehe. my box is 10cu, ill post a video of the box tomarow while it is still empty.
i have a kinetic 1800 under the hood and a kinetik 2000 i have about to be put under the amp when i put the new subwoofers in, just keeping it until then.

my end-goal for this setup is to have 2 18'' RE audio XXX's running on a hifonics brutus 2600RMS per subwoofer, or the USamps equivilant. depending on how satisfied i am with their RE audio subwoofers.

Can you give me an idea of the SX's ability to produce SPL ? i am looking to enter atleast entry level competitions around here with this setup, will that be possible? my old junk 18's where rattling my front winshield and my car is big, if you guys have seen my old posts with my videos of the car in it's a big luxury beast, a crystler LHS So even with those crap 18's it was moving some serious air, can i expect thease RE audios to be even better ?
sounds good... and yes the re's will be waaay better than the ma's.. for sure.. but honestly if you stick with re. get the mt's not the xxx's ... if your going for spl then the mt's will do a better job of that.. thats what they were designed for.

Much better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

P.S mods please move this to build journal area ! it will be loaded with videos and pictures.

He soldered the speaker wire to the amp?
yes, and he stands by it proudly stating that he "solders all of his connections"

i will provide complete pictures of how the amplifier was wired up , from speaker-terminal out.

But what was very annoying is how they used such weak screws and my hole amp wrack came loose with the vibrations going on back there, causing my amp to cut in and out because the big *** 0 gauge wire came loose, NOT GOOD !

completely unprofessional, and very annoying how i am never able to watch them do the work on my car, so i will be deffinatly looking for a new installer to finish this project.

I tend to stick with this setup for a year or two, then i will be getting another Alternator, 1 more 2000 kinetic battery for the trunk, and then upgrading my hifonics amp, getting somthing stronger and getting 2x of them, then replacing the SX's with MT's. That is the End-game design for my system basicly. I have read into the MT's alot more, and found out they are the sub i will deffinatly want to aim for not the XXX.

But now i just want to find a good installer, and get thease things done propperly so they sound their best dont DONT blow up! like i said, the Amplifier i have the terminals look like this:

-- ++ not -+ -+

so to get it down to 1ohm wouldnt you just have to run seperate speaker cable 1 with 2 ends going into both positives, then another speaker cable with 2 ends going into the negatives, and then wire the subs up in paralell? i saw a picture of it in one of my old threads, somebody posted how to wire up the JLw7's at 1ohm i belive it was with a amp very similar to mine.

But he crossed mine so it went from positive, to negative each speaker cable then that cable went to one of the MA audio subwoofers connected too it, then 2 more little ones ran from that to the other connection points. I do belive that they where recivng a 2ohm load or somthing around that i dont belive it was correctly wired up at 1ohm, and this is why i am scared to go back there now with subwoofers that NEED to be wired up propperly.

will get video of the speaker wiring up ASAP. thanks guys for all your support and help !

well the sx's look like they are coming out nice... hopefully they do what you want ! ( make sure your box is tuned right and very very strong ! a strong box is a loud box.
my MA audio 18's hammered with this box my installer built for me, if he did 1 thing good it would probably be this.

( a look inside my fibreglass box) http://blip.tv/file/1856306

i would love to get some feedback on it though, as you guys can see i am a bit suspect of his skills so please feel free to critisize and pick apart any mistakes you see in the box design.

it is around 10cu, maybe a little-bit over, fibre glass and as far as i know hammers extremely loud. let me know what you guys think !

i cant wait to get my MT's but that is a good 12 months down the road from now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thease SX's are going to do great until then.

lol //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif no it wont this is going to be a show car eventually, aswell as a car audio competition car, not on a high-level but atleast able to pull some deciant figures.

What Db could be expected with the setup that i am running & the electrical systemi have backing it up ?

also here is the video i made today clearly showing the soldered speaker wire, aswell as the way the futureshop guy had my subs wired up for you guys to be able to tell what ohm they where running at, it is very clear and you should have no problems !

please also if the box isnt propper, or there is anything wrong with the fibreglass job he did let me know.

go to a different shop!! DIY! DIY! DIY! just hang out here and read for like 3 weeks everyday and ask lots of questions

Installer is a ****ign tool piece of shiiit idiot, tell him I said that.

You would be better off at best buy - everything you wrote including the $200 battery isolator just screams RIP OFF..

Drive another half hour if you have to this installer is certifiably a retard and is only gonna mess your shit up and guess what? he doesn't care! because your dumass will just buy more from him.

Also the actual wiring is done really shittily he solders shitty and he terminates wire ends shittily - just wait till one of those loose wires from your two positives touches!!! then you will be buying anew amp from this *******.. Power wire being loose this shop sucks!!!!
