BASS OBSESSION
I think i would reinforce the face of that box. Does it have a double face at least? i would add some bracing too.
I know most manufcturers at least get parts from China. I said as much in my previous reply. What I dont get is, if they DO make/assemble the SE in China, why did I get a sarcastic reply from an RE/US Amps dealer saying I was misinformed and they design/build their products by hand in the USA.
So I guess I have to ask the question.... who is right? And if its ruel, why are being lead to believe all products are designed, built and assembled in the USA?
it is over 5cubic feet sealed, you could get inside of it and curl up in the box it is massive, as you can all see. Its not like it is a small sealed box. I was told both by the man i spoke to greg carlous and my installer and they said it should not be a big issue and that it would just effect the low-end bass and the responsiveness to the punchyer notes. Plus they are only running on 1700 RMS divided by 2 subwoofers. Is your box sealed or ported? It appears to be sealed, and if so the SX's don't like sealed boxes AT ALL. That could be the cause of the overheating problem. If the box is ported then it could be clipping from the amps gain being too high. Just my 2cents
Slide some aeros in the box and see if the overheating stops, other than that I'm at a loss. I hope you get the issues worked out, and keep us posted. I think I may be getting my trunk fiberglassed and try to add one more 18it is over 5cubic feet sealed, you could get inside of it and curl up in the box it is massive, as you can all see. I am so pissed off i dont know wtf to do with thease now i am broke and out 800 + dollars, i guess i will be selling off my shit now.
EDIT : the gain is only at 12 oclock position where it has always been. My MA audio's never used to heat up until the one blew the dust cap out the center, but that one was already weakened and held together with PL.
Like i said it is over 5 cubic feet, here is a look at my box again.Slide some aeros in the box and see if the overheating stops, other than that I'm at a loss. I hope you get the issues worked out, and keep us posted. I think I may be getting my trunk fiberglassed and try to add one more 18
Do you guys think that the crack will get larger or blow apart ? this seems like bad advice i dont want to completely destroy them..... i cannot afford another pair of subs man.If they still move freely and play fine then they aren't blown.. (although I'd check the resistance with a DMM to make sure all coils are all there)
If all is good you can keep using them.. I'd either just go easy untill you get some new caps, or outright try to destroy them before I sent them back.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/satan.gif.9c6a335ed7aeeed3ee273e573f1fcaac.gif
Level and bass boost are at 12' oclock position where the manual for hifonics brutus says to have it. the ceiling level is adjusted propperly aswell as how low the subs will go aswell. Either way thease subwoofers are advertised asDo you have the bass boost turned up? You were probably clipping them for too long and they couldn't take it.
