2 memphis pr on a memphis 1000 amp

ive been running the pr 15s for a good while now and i have abused them with dirty power and with clean power and have yet to blow one of the 8 i have.

but that doesnt mean they wont blow, ive seen many people at the audio shop with blown subs because they want to up the gain on the amp to make it louder and fry it, but the pr in the proper box with clean power done correct can take 500rms with no problem or failures

i just dropped 600 watts on two of my 12's and they took it for sevral burps,,but last year i done a bass race for like 60 seconds on 6 12's and i got smoke from some of them.I didnt kill them, actually done a higher spl run afterwards lol. But i know i was close to killing them

are those direct competition for say a JL W6?
nope. especially SQ wise. The PR class is what it is. Their lower line models.. That being said, I like Memphis amps(to a degree) but I have yet to hear a Memphis Substage That I liked. Including our local dealers Demo Truck. I just gave away 2-10's and a 12" that I had laying around and was glad to clear up the space. This is my opinion but Memphis has been around a while so they are doing something right. I have owned 6 of thr PR1000.1 and only 1 ever gave me any problems... But there are better and more powerful for less money out there. (EX. AQ1200) http://www.audioque.com $250 shipped to your door w/ warranty BNIB. And you will only need a 4ga power wire with the AQ. As far as subs go, I would look into other options because their are better subs that handle the same power and are in the same pricerange. good luck

double post FTL- sry

JL Audio are extremely overpriced IMO but they are good subs( SQ more than SPL).

What vehicle are you trying to get this system in?

What is your budget for subs, amp, box, ect...?

Are you wanting SQ, SQL, SPL?

SQ=Sound quality- very clean bass but not very loud

SPL= Pure qut busting bass but usually sounds sloppy, pretty much for competition

SQL= nice mixture of the two mentioned above- most common- great streetbeater

Side note- Enclosure and install are as, if not more, important than the equipment used. This can and usually will make or break your overall satisfaction of your system.

this is goin in my buick regal 2000

the subs and amp i have already but its really the box i need cuz i think its cracked

so wat do these subs go under?sq,spl, sql?

Budget systems can be put in different levels. You have the trash(PYLE, Boss, ECT..) you have better(CVR's,memphis PR's ect) and great subs at a great price(Type-r's, AQ SDC2.5's, RE SE's). I would take the cvr's over the pr's all day every day.. I don't want you to think I'm bashing Memphis, but these are my opinions... I have not ever heard a Memphis substage that has ever impressed me----the mojo's were a lot better than the PR's but they just don't compare to most subs in their class. Now I like the PR1000.1 amp. I have used 4 and only had a problem with one and the warranty replacement was problem free as well. But I wouldn't ever buy them again because the AQ1200 in better, more powerful, and less expensive(one of the best bargains in car audio imo).

You already have the equipment so build you a box built to specs for the subs and try them out.. I have been into car audio regularly since around 1988 or so, so I am likely a little(okay- ALOT) harder to please when it comes to car audio. That is not necessarily a good thing. You may be more than happy with them... If not, sell em locally and upgrade to the next step up. But beware- if the upgrade bug gets ya, it will likely never stop. Hit me up if you have any more questios.. I am not a regular poster on here, but I do check it out often. I am usually on a different forum regularly.
