I couldn't man. The owner's wife has no idea what "business" and "ethics" truly mean. What is worse is they let her run everything for both AQ(SQ) and DD.

Well 8 layer will fit the older one I know that(the used one you got). However, each time we ever saw a "motor change" at AQ was when they tried to shrink the gap. There are several variations out that of this exact motor right now...if you have to larger gap motors they can be rebuilt into some very nice drivers and with the new baskets you can use a decently sized spider as well.

indeed, which is why it was always reverted back to the larger gap in the past.

Wait for them to say you didn't "break them in" and not honor warranty.

Are you sure coil is unwinding?

Push the cone in from the center. Is it rubbing? Now push the cone in from the sides (ony push one point on the cone) If no matter which side of the cone you push it rubs it's likely you out-gassed and bubbled out the former, or the coil is coming apart. If it doesn't rub when you push the cone in from one side it's just a misaligned coil.

AQ subs are notorious for shoddy parts and major QC issues. Some guys end up with a sub that you can't kill, others get subs that fail right out the gate.

lol I know I dont like the look of it as much as the top port but I have lots more mounting depth so I can try out different woofers.
