Coil scraping can be several issues. Here is where AQ may become less then helpful though. Kevin will do what he can to keep you happy, but if it is indeed the coil being loose in the gap they will fault the user for clipping or excessive power. If there is actually something in the gap then they will fix it no issues most of the time.

As for power handling, I have said will always say they are rated for 1k for a very good reason. Can they take more? Sure some times they do...are they meant to? Nope. lol

As for Kevin and his tech help...well, in the end he is not a tech guy what so ever, he is only a customer support specialist. So if anyone contacts AQ and they respond with advice, double and triple check what they suggest as odds are it will not be 100% correct.

I was going to buy a pair of hdc4's if they would of credited me but I will never deal with AQ again. I will also never suggest any of their products to anyone.

Should of gone with the sp4's out of the gate.

from my experience if you go with anything with 4" coils you are going to need power. they have a high mmd no matter which way you cut it. that lowers efficency so yea... I say go with AA like meeeeeeee!!!

only reason people run aq is cause they have a decent sub for a pretty low price, till they have a problem then they jump ship, seen it alot..

To be fair though, while I was there about 90% of any sub-woofer failure I ever saw was do to user error though. That is part of the industry though, I warrantied plenty of items I should never have..but I was more about keeping everyone happy. I even built several custom drivers as well.
