Attn: Lifters/gym enthusiasts/ Lemans

I just recently started going to the gym about 5 times a week. In my 3rd-4th week and I am just wondering what you all use for supplements. Don't turn this into a flame thread saying your style is better than others, simply state what you use and how it works for you, and what you have tried and has not worked. State what you personally have used, not what you hear.

Also list how you take your supplements. Ex: I take a shake 1hr before workout, noXplode 30 min before workout. Shake after workout, and shake before bed. So far Ive gained about 8lbs. I was 142 and am now 149-150. I have trouble keeping on the weight because it is hard to get enough calories in a day between school/work/gym/homework.

I am currently taking a multivitamin, Cytosport's Cytogain, No-explode, and Nitrix. Only been on no explode and nitrix for a few days. Nitrix has yet to "start". I have noticed a gain in muscle mass from the cytogain, and it does seem to be working

I have heard that Noxplode stops working after the first month, or at least it goes stagnant. Is this true? Is this true with Nitrix as well?

I'd like to gain another 15-20lbs. And am dedicated to working out. I belong to 24hr and have a whole workout routine for each day of the week. I spend, on average about 1 1/2-2+ hrs at the gym, so I do take it seriously.

Anyway, please list your supplements and how they worked for you, and tell me what you have heard of noxplode/nitrix. For a backround- I heard about them from a co-worker who used to do MMA fighting, so I just kinda took his word on it.

Thanks in advance.

I liked No-xplode but I never really saw much from Nitrix. No-explode you are only suppose to use for a 12 week period then cycle off.

Personally, whenever I was in my training benge just eating right(6 small meals a day) exercise(4 times a week) and taking protein and multivitamans I was able to stay around 188 to 191 pounds (i'm 6'2"). Which is what I wanted, I didn't want to get smaller and I didn't want to lose a lot of muscle but just stay fit. Your goals are a lot different than what mine where, I just wanted to be lean and have muscle not weigh 220+ and capable of bench pressing 300 something pounds.

Personally BSN products did ok for me so just remember only use noxplode for a while(12 weeks) and cycle off.

whey protein - very fast acting protein and i take 1 serving upon waking up and 2 post workout. definately works for me cause its convient and quickest way to consume protein.

no xplode - i take this 15min prior to working out on days where i aim for personal record lifts (bench/squat/deadlift).

multi vitiman - bottle says 2 per day but i take only 1. i would take 1 cap on days where i dont get enough vitimans from fruits/veggies itself. i take it with food.

fish oil - 1-2 caps on days where i dont consume omega3-6 fats (fish/nuts/olive oil). i take 1 after meals.

as for no-xplode, i wouldnt recommend it for starters. i think you should have a good strength base before taking this supplement. (like a good bench/squat/deadlift number). this stuff cost a lot of money hence the reason why i use it on training days where i attempt personal record lifts. i also notice by taking a lot of this has increase some acne on my face.

i highly recommend whey protein as the top priority supplement on anybodies list. i have taken Optium Nutrition Whey (double choc flavor) for 15 months and has work well so far. you can buy this at http://www.bulknutrition.com

i currently weigh 190lb and bench: 225lbx4, deadlift: 475lbx1, and squat 455lbx1 unequipped. i plan to compete in powerlifting comps. im very big on weight lifting myself.

I hyper extended my elbow....doing ez bar overhead extensions. My arm has never been the same and I'm afraid to do tricep workouts. It hurt so bad whenever I did it too I've never felt sharp pain like that before. I haven't worked out really since, it's probably been 4 months atleast by now and I've gained 10 pounds.

thats very very impressive. May I ask how long you have been working out? How many meals do you eat a day? What kind of diet is it? Calorie intake?

Sounds good. See I am trying to build up as much weight as I can now to get to a desirable weight. Around 160-170 and then maintain that weight just have very little body fat. I had about 8% at 142lbs, and want to have around 3-6% at 160-170lbs. My goals are to bench my weight, max 1 1/2x it, and maintain overall healthy body weight. I just want to gain some muscle mass, and get lean.

When you say cycle off, what do you mean? Replace it with another supplement? Does that mean I need to stop taking creatine and No2? Or just those specific supplements?

Thanks for the feedback.

generally what it means is you stop taking that product for say...oh I'd say atleast a month. Now if you can pick up a different item in it's place I have no idea. I just didn't take it for a month and then I'd pick it up again. It's kind of like creatine. You cycle on for a month cycle off.

Ah gotcha. So I should use that as my kind-of creatine "when to stop taking it" reminder, and then wait for the allotted time, and start again? What do you take in the meantime?

For example- what did you do when you cycled off of it?

Thank you for the help btw

Started working out again about 2 months ago. Weighed in at 168 lbs and lifted 5 days a week. All I take is GNC whey Protein and I'm up to 181 pounds. Now this may seem like a small increase, but I already was pretty built up at only 5'9.

Here is my Protein schedule I guess you could say. Nothing scientific about it.

Take 1 and a half servings protein after workout. Then In the morning I have a half serving of protein. Thats it. Works really well.

i drink a creatine shake about a half hour before workin out , then when done workin out take some amino acids about 1/2 hour later...i stay mostly with eas products like phospagen hp for creatine and muscle build, works pretty well when your workin out for myself and my brother...

the only decent gym around here closed, so i've fallen off to nothing, but i had a supplement schedule that worked well for me

Optimum Nutrition protein

Optimum Nutrition Opti-Men multi-vitamin

flax seed oil gel-caps

milk thistle

Omega Sports Cre-Ethyl Thunder

Omega Sports Glutamine Ethyl Ester

protein, multi, flax seed, and milk thistle in the AM

Cre-Ethyl Thunder 30 minutes before workout

Glutamine and protein post-workout

multi, flax seed, milk thistle before dinner

Glutamine before bed

never felt better in my life...weighed 175, benched 265, squat was weak at 325 or so, preacher curls with a plate per side on ez bar, close grip 275, shrug 350. nothing too spectacular, but i looked like a beast
