Am I expecting too much
Says they but I went on DD website and looked at their specs for the box and it seems the same.. either way if I got ripped off that's what I'm trying to figure out
they lie, that box is no where near DD's recommended specs, they fed you complete and utter horse sh*t and their install looks hackjob as well. They didnt get a proper signal period. Seems like they have no idea what they are doing and basically ripped you off. Sorry for being the one that says this but yeah you got completely ripped off on the install and box which is clearly a cheap china made prefab thats no where near DD's specs.

However the box isnt the cause for super weak bass, its the signal line. this is the most common issue on this site recently. People thinking its fine to just keep the stock head unit and using an LOC cheap or some overpriced audiocontrol all the same garbage results. Its not fine and you need to really get a proper signal in order for everything to work out fine. People severely underestimate the power of a good signal. It makes or breaks a system easily. Easily 90% system performance loss with a poor signal.

@Zackster @Chrisrizzy Yeah you guys all trying to use LOCs, hope you guys learn something.

What makes it a hack job on the install from what you can see.. I am gonna go back tomorrow and see what they say but what your telling me is that sub and amp should hit pretty hard correct? The highs are amazing for stock speakers I don't see why only the nub wouldn't hit like it should

Listen to this guy. Interesingly enough, he did say it was a reputable shop. But if that's the kind of work they do, why? Because you didn't fork over 1000's of dollars or even a few hundred but still....it should have been done correctly, the 1st time around.

As I said OP, take it back make them fix it or get your $$ back and go elsewear.

I'm willing to bet they just installed everything and didn't even bother listening to it before handing it back to ya.

Also do you think it being factory head unit would hurt it a lot?
Absolutely.

As JEff said, that box isn't made for that sub so it's gonna sound like crap. And that's why I questioned it. Good thing I asked for pics. Rhino lined on top of that box spells out prefab.

I know of a very good box designer on here if it gets to that point. Lets call that plan B if things don't work out for ya tomorrow.

I know a good box will make or break a sub right off the bat I even second guessed him when he said he was using that box and he assurede it was right. So as far as you guys can tell is my problem more the fact I'm using a factory head unit or is it the box

its mainly your signal path. The box is one thing but it should by no means limit your output to that of a factory sub. Just give them a call and see where they got their signal from the sub at. Might need a better quality LOC for the sub signal as well but if that doesnt work, you'll need a proper head unit with a proper sub rca pre outs.

Sc4.1 has summing capabilities so if they pulled the signal correctly you should be getting something decent. Do you have access to the sc4.1? What is the sub channel gain set at? If the loc is in the trunk it should be easy to see if they pulled the signal from the factory subwoofer. You should be able to trace the wires. Gotta be a member in san antonio around the forum.....

Problem definitely sounds like improper signal, if done correctly and the proper one is used for the situation you can use a LOC just fine and keep your factory headunit and get great bass in your vehicle. If the amp you mentioned is the D5.1000 then you should have a 1000wrms @1ohm on tap which is more than enough power and I can't speak for that box because I don't know the specs of it but for everyone talking bout prefabs are tuned high, yes they are, generally in the 40hz to 50hz range.....guess what, most of DD recommended box specs are tuned in the high 30's to high 40hz range....

I'm not familiar with your vehicle or the sound system in it so I can't say where the best place to grab the signal is but on most late model vehicles I avoid using the factory sub leads unless I know for certain where it's crossed over at, whether or not it does or doesn't have some funky speed/volume auto adjustment built in it and thus far. The best thing is to take it back and let them know that it's not preforming anywhere near what it should and you'd like them to double check to make sure that it's getting the signal it needs and if it's clipping then something is definitely not properly matched. They need to scope where they got signal from.....

Also BEFORE YOU CHANGE ANY SETTING ON ANYTHING THEY INSTALLED TAKE IT BACK TO THEM FIRST!!!!! and voice your unhappiness with the sound and let them attempt to correct it first because the moment you or anyone other than them change anything you have effectively VOIDED your install warranty with them and if they want to they can be ***** about it at that point.
