!5" sub options?

beat down just kinda explained what i think ur getting at. one 12 that can handle more power in a bigger box will be louder than 2 12's that handle less power but are choked for air. correct?

Yes this is very true.

Can you get the max dimensions you have to work with in your car? Also get the dims of the current enclosure you have as well as your port size and length.

With all that information I can help you determine what will work best for your application. If you are not wanting to change your amp then 4 gauge will do, but 0 gauge would be better. A second battery won't fix any issues you may have with voltage drop except for a short time. You will need to pick up a new alt which will be around 140amps or so(I don't think they make anything to much larger for your application).

Also, not to put down your builder, but these are things he should have known and advised you about prior to even building any enclosure that would not be optimal for the situation.

yeah ik. its actually a 2.6 cube box. ill get those specs for u. this system will be a lot better than my current fusion active wedge lol. I'm just getting into the hobby. and if i went to a single 12 wouldn't i be looking at a bigger amp anyways cuz the single 12 would handle more than 1000 rms right?

You do not have to upgrade your amp at any time if you do not wish to. Just because a sub will take a billion watts does not mean that you have to feed it that much to enjoy it.

The biggest issue you will have to over come is adjusting your amp/head unit settings to ensure you are not clipping the signal. This is what is already happening with the OA15. The signal is being clipped and resulting in distortion. This builds up heat and breaks down the glue on the coil.

the singe 12 doesnt exactly mean that it is going to handle more then a 1000rms it depends on what sub you get and if it will work with the space you have. Again the sub could be a brand that underates there stuff or some that overates. But pro rabbit will lead you in the right direction. He is the $hit

k. i don't now how it will handle in my car because we had it hooked up in my car. we r hooking everything up in my car on the 30th. plus I'm using a loc instead of another deck. so hopefully this will resolve that problem. and i get what ur saying about the upgrading of my amp. id rather have a bigger amp to be able to run but just not always have my system turned up all the way. just thinking in the range of 2000w rms for the sub.

I have looked at the ascendant audio mayhem. it would be one i would consider. the specs on the box go up to 3 cubes so i think that would fit pretty well in my trunk. or a dc.

Nate the sub is fine. Lol you havent even heard it. stop Trying to switch your sh*t up when you dont even have it in yet. And the reason it was smelling was because I was running the amp really high. Just stop trying to swithc your sh*t around. You havent even got anything in yet. And the box isnt a small box. Its 2.6 cubes but it has plenty of room to play with. the box it 30"x20"x10.5" deep with the port firing out and the sub facing up. From what I played with it yesterday everything was fine with the box and the sub hit deep and clear notes. Dont start judging it before you even hear it. This will be more than enough for what you want. Trust me.

With 2k you have a wide range of what you can use. The biggest factor will be what kind of space you actually have to use and we can make that work in your application.

I'm not even sure where to start my comments at for this.

If the enclosure is only 30 x 20 x 10.5 is the port external? If not then your calculations are very wrong. Also, why would run someone else's product like that? That shows a lack of respect and you should replace the sub so he has one that has not already been heated up by some one who didn't care what they were doing.

No the biggest factor is that he doesnt have the electrical to back that up at all. Hes hardly even scratched the surface of it. he doesnt even have it in yet. neverless even heard it inside a car and he wants to switch it all up already. Hes got maybe a 120 amp alt with 4 awg.. And he doesnt wanna spend that much either. I would say let him get it all in his car and see if he likes it first. He hasnt even heard it yet and he wants to switch everythign all up. Its pointless trying. He will change his mind in a week anyways

This is all a part of "customer service". It is your job to educate your customer and help them with the correct choices. However, given your track record I don't think that falls in your guidelines.

The sub is fine. He doesnt even know what the hell i was talking about. It didnt smell hardly at all. It started to smell for 2 seconds then went away.
