4 Gauge for 1k Rms?

Have Knu KLMX 4 gauge in my mid sized ext cab truck and was wondering If I should upgrade to 0 gauge. Will be using an audiopipe AP10001D at 1 ohm.

Technically, 4ga is enough; good 4ga is rated at 125a (my memphis 4ga was)...That said, I would still go 0ga

you can use 4 gauge up to 1.5k

0 gauge will help with your voltage drop. 4 gauge would work.

It depends on the length! Without knowing how long your power wire is none of the advice given in this thread is relevant.

Use the navigation panel on the right to find number 16. Wire

Scroll down between 1/3 and 1/2 of the way and you'll see the "Power Wire Calculator"

Viola, input your information and it will tell you if your setup is insufficient

Ext cab pickup.... My guess 12 feet or so max.....should be sufficient for 1KW audiopipe.

Going bigger won't hurt either and you can always pull the wire for your next build.

Most wire is rated at 50 ft or less. If you have a run longer than 50 ft in your vehicle you might want to rethink your car audio hobby.

Thats why I added ext cab truck..Roughly 12 ish feet with like a 2 foot ground if that. I think I wired whole truck ground/power with 15 ish. Havent done big 3, truck has 8g but I have some extra 4g I could do it with which im sure would help.

If you wanted ofc instead, let me know. I have 2-4gauge amp power kit -AND- 1-2gauge amp power kit all which are ofc.
