18" sub with small space requirements

sundown wont put out 2kw @ .5

especially with imp rise

1 amp, single 1000ca everstart maxx, 1 Eagle Picher 12a5000, factory alt

4 ohm nominal = 520 watts @ 88% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.3v, to 14.1v)

2 ohm nominal = 960 watts @ 84% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.3v, to 13.7v)

1 ohm nominal = 1635 watts @ 75% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.3v, to 12.8 volts

.5 ohm nominal = 1890 watts @ 71% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.3v, to 12.8v)

.35 ohm nominal = 2245 watts @ 65% efficiency (voltage fell from 14.3v, to 12.8v)

Okay 1900watts not 2000watts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif

Better get an entire new list of drivers now:laugh:

I wish tc made an 18 in the 3000 series...do you think they will come out with one? I like the wiring to .35 and after impedence rise i should be good. I mean i could always do the 15" tc3000. I might be leaning towards the rlp. I've heard some good things about them so far and its good to have something not too many people have so i can be different than the fi boner.

Whats the voice coil config on the sx? Really would be lookin for a dual 1 but didn't they only make them in dual 2's?

Yea thats what i was thinking but i still might try and fit an 18. I'll prolly just do a 15" aq or something like that. Or you guys have any suggestions on a 15" for a sundown at .5? I was thinking a bl, but i don't know if i wanna jump on the fi bandwagon. Give me some suggestions around 400 bucks and under. The cheaper the better.

DD 9515 Dual 1 ohm coils (shoot for 0.8 DCR or so to ensure more long term reliability from the amp). Not sure on pricing at all... but have a few customers using said woofer.

I suppose the AQ would be a great option as it is often compared to DD.

As for my 18" SX mentioned earlier... not sure on the coil as I've never used it. Presumably it is Dual 2, though.

Id consider the rl-p 18, you have about 6.2 cubes before displacement and port. The SS website recomends 5 cubes at 27 hz, plus its got one of the sexiest rear ends in car audio. Also the lower power demands will allow less stress on your electrical system.

Yea that is true. My two options i'm really considering are the rl-p and the alpha. Those are the two i'm really looking into. Choices choices.

if this is for the grand am, im disapointed. u can fit more than 5cubes back there. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

get the SX off jake

It is in a grand am. How many cubes do you think i can fit in the trunk? It would be hard to get it in the trunk. Its a 2000 grand am. And i can't do a wall or anything. Its the same car that you have listed in your sig. Do you think i can fit an 18 in the trunk?

sure 1890 watts with a pure 60hz sine wave with a giant computer server backup battery and a true .5 ohmload

it will not do nearly 1900 watts in a daily driver application , once agian especially with imp rise

but hey, what do i know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

1 ohm, car off:19.9 x 53.7: 1070 watts, rising to 2.7 ohms. Voltage was only dropping to 12.3!

1 ohm, car on:

20.7 x 54.3: 1090 watts, rising to 2.7 ohms.
