Is there an 18" sub that will handle around 2000 watts and work good in a 5 cube box?
ya i was definitly gonna say 5 cubs isnt small homie. lol. that internal or total volume? my tc5200 works best in 3.5cubs. i have in 3.5cubs @ 34Hz, box total volume is around 5 cubs actually. It's musical and pounds like hell. cant wait ot get this new alty tuesday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.giflots... btl, tc5200, depends what your looking for. 5 cube isnt exactly "small"....
yeah, but 2kw isnt enough for the 5200 (you know this, you own one, as do i) to the op- 2kw is enough for the hd3, and as far as btl- you dont have to get all the options.. (i cant tell you which ones to get, as i dont keep up on the whole fi thing) my vote goes to the aq. nice sounding (in most opinions) fairly loud driver. as to when its gonna be out- i was told by dj the middle of the summer. if you can wait for it, thats the way to go. otherwise the rlp would get my vote.ya i was definitly gonna say 5 cubs isnt small homie. lol. that internal or total volume? my tc5200 works best in 3.5cubs. i have in 3.5cubs @ 34Hz, box total volume is around 5 cubs actually. 6.5 cubes @ 35.5 cubes is small for an 18 ported. Sealed, sure no worries. Ported? Most 18's like more in the neighborhood of 8 cubes ported. Can you do it anyway? Sure. Would you be better off stepping down to a 15 to increase your choices, over-all system flexibility and likely performance? Yes.
there are MANY 18's that will work just fine in under 5 cubes ported. tc 5200 is one (recommended small box of 3.7 cuft, large box of 5 cuft)lms5400 (3.5 cuft ported), elemental designs has the 19ov2 (3.5 cuft recommended ported) rl-p (4.5 cuft ported "acceptable") fi btl (recommended from 5-10 cuft) and others. just because you are used to seeing unnecissarily huge boxes, doesnt mean that all (or even most) 18's need it.. would he have more range in 15's to choose from? probably, but he wants an 18. all of these will work PERFECT in 5 or sub-5 cuft. boxes.5 cubes is small for an 18 ported.
