18" Sub Ported Enclosure Pointers...

Well - I finally decided to go (1) 18" Sub... [RE XXX18 or FI Q18]

... The vehicle is my 1999 Nissan Sentra GXE 4-Dr [b-15 Motor Swap] - 20" Rims BTW...

OK - I'm looking to do a Trunk Wall... Everything firing forward into the the cabin

... I'm wanting a Deep Low End Street Beat Setup!

... The Amp I'm going to be using is a Kicker KX2500.1D [birthsheet says 3060rms @ 2ohm - But I'm going to be running it at a 4ohm load... I'm guessing 2200 - 2500rms maybe]

SOOO - This is what I came up with a 6.481Cuft Tuned to 29Hz...

... The dimensions are: 32"W x 18.75"H x 24"D - I'm going to be use (1) 6" PVC [9" Long]

... My question is:

Is the design[it's simple, i know] - Optimal for what I'm looking for?

* If someone could help - guide - point things out - etc... It'll all be GREATLY! appreciated... *

Well, first off, if you are not sure if you are using the RE or the Fi, then that question cannot be answered for what is optimal. We could cross check the specs of both and give you which sub will give better results if that's what you want. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Well for that sub, and those box parameters, you are looking at a tuning very close to your expected one, but that is not where the resonance will be. The resonance will be around the 35-40Hz range for a peak. It is not going to be as musical as it can be. In fact, in the vehicle, it may have a 4th order type of sound with a little more low end than usual.

The needed round port area of this particular sub is around 10" port or around a minimum round port of 8" or (2) 6" ports for optimum performance. Your box uses a single 6, so I would double up on that if possible.

This will give you around a mid30s tuning and better cone control from 30-45Hz as well as a smoother phase response. ALso, It would be recommended to put the port(s) on the side or top of the box instead if changes are made.

But if you do not make changes, and just wanted to know about what it could do, then I would say it is very conventional and would work quite well as is. And the recommended box volume of this sub anyways is around 8-8.25 cubic ft so that is good that you are only just below that. It will work, but recommendations are given.

Keep in mind, this is only very generically calculated and can be optimized MUCH better with a full design and does not include cabin transfer function either, which can make or break a design. But, this will give you something to work with if you want. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Other than that, I can't give you any more detailed information without a purchase. But that should be enough to go by for now. I hope. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif LAter!

@ Enclosure - Thanks for all of that - It's greatly appreciated... I figured I would need more port area...

... But as I stated, I'm just looking for a " Deep, Low End Street Beater "...

@ SBCaprice - Yes, 20s on a Sentra... Matter of fact - I have 3 sets of 20s ( I use them for different purposes... )

... And No I am not... lol ... I'm actually thinking about going 22s but down want to deal with the Front End Work - No cutting necessary...

@ Buck & Jerry - A Bigger box would be nice... But I'm already pushing for space - ( only reason this box is fitting is due to me cutting most of my Rear Dash... ( Currently have a 6x9 board there - But it can be altered )

... I'm about to take pictures of the space that I have available [with tape measure for visual measurements]... It's an EXTREME tight fit... But I don't have a little bit more depth I can add... [but not too much due to the back being put on the back side of the box]

... This Is the Width Available... [ I thought it was 32" Wide - It's only 31" Wide... UGH! ]

... This Is The Depth... [ I can do 27" ... 28" MAX ]

... This is the Height... [ I " MIGHT " be able to to 19" ... But looking like 18.75" is the ultimate limit... ]
