12" Sub Choice In Ext Cab...

not trying to get flamed here...but been out of car audio a few years...and it seems that is all it takes to be out of loop on newer better products.

I have a 99 silverado ext cab truck. putting a underseat box to hold 2 12" subs. looking at anywhere from .7cuft each to 1 cuft each. haven't decided which way i am going on my build yet...but that is the option on box. Sealed also.

I am planning on running my PPI Powerclass PC2100 amp on the subs. So, i am not throwing major power around. figure 400 rms total to run 2 subs.

I currently have a set of 10" IDQ's i haev used in many cars....and loved them. but i want to go 12 and try something new.

My budget is 100 or less per sub. Looking at lately... ID or IDQ obviously, ED 13Kv.2, ARC KAR, Memphis PR....

So, what options you guys have for me. i listen to all types music and like the way my IDQ's sounded... not looking to shake down the neighborhood...just nice clean sound.

flame on..

No need to flame, asking a legit question. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Also look at the Kicker CVT 12"....will work in that application as well.

i had looked right past the kicker. thing just looked odd from a first visual. be nice to know some comparisons on it. i have never owned a kicker sub to know the sound it puts out.

i just picked up a BNIB old school round solo 15 for my daily car though....so i guess i am about to find out something on kicker...

I have an ExCab......the depth is limiting unless you lift your rear seat with a lift kit which I did

Once you lift the seat about 2 inches you have a world of options,I chose to go with 1 ported 12 over 2 sealed 12s which I prefer

Thats IF your looking to run a more of a beefy woofer other wise you stuck with about 5.5-6" max depth

Avoid Memphis PRs,freekin junk

than toss your amps and Xovers on the rear wall

I used to have cvr's that bumped very hard, the cvt is supposed to be more compact but put out the same thump as the cvr, try it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

thanks for the info on the kickers!

also, thanks for info on the silverado install. i have been considering a lift setup for my rear seat to gain more room. i work at a fab shop, so i can have anything made for this. was starting to consider maybe 1 sub in a larger box...but, to be honest...i really do prefer sealed over ported boxes. so, i think i would run 2 subs in small sealed before 1 ported even.

on the note of the lift setup, with 2" of lift, what did you do with your seat back locking in place?

Just wanted to add that you might want to go with 1 sub since you have about 400 watts of power. I am just wondering if one sub, given ample amount of power, would sound better than 2 subs only getting about 200 watts a piece? Might be something to consider.

they guy who made the lift kit also supplied new back seat brackets which alow the seat to fold down for eay amp access;)

what kit did you go with? if you don't mind me asking....

i have thought about the 1 sub idea as well. stupid as it sounds, i am just a 2 sub kinda guy though...haha something to think about though.

I have had many dual sealed 12" set up's with up to 2500 watts and it IMO still doesnt compare to 1 ported - suit yourself

oh by far i don't doubt the ported would be louder. i just tend to stay away from ported. i use to use them in my early setups just to be as loud as possible, now i just want to make sure it sounds good and will crank when i want it too. not looking to DB Drag with it or anything.
