the deeper you want them, the more upper end response you give up. "supposedly" you can ask for no megaroll with the traditional surrounds and it'll help with the upper bass response. Is that response what I'd expect from a pair of X-12's?.. I hear they dig deep...
i saw that home theatre shack link long ago when trying to figure out what each meaning is. However entering it in his order always gave errors so I dismissed it.Well.. you've been extremely helpful in learning Winisd... took me 2 days and that was only cause I was following a "tutorial"... did you read it?.. it's very vague and leads one to think that specific info IS needed!.. LOL! Thanks man
Until you get yourself a saw and some wood and start building boxes to compare real world vs. predicted and hear what those curves sound like you really won't wrap your head around it.Like I said... I learned a Heck of a lot in this thread... so much that I can't list it all... but I did learn this for certain... I won't give enclosure advice until I'm familiar with this program and Prefabs really leave a LOT to be desired... now I'll watch some others dole out uninformed advice like I did... LOL!
That's all good... I've been into building boxes, installing and helping friends not to mention my own stuff since high school in 1985... competed IASCA 1995-1999 but have used fu*ked-up calculators and factory recommendations till now... Loved that Kicker bass for awhile... LOL!... until I became a basshead recently... Now I just wanna be loud and LOW!.. no more SQ for me... Good sound for sure... but slammin'!.. I want all kinds of basshead problems... LOL!Until you get yourself a saw and some wood and start building boxes to compare real world vs. predicted and hear what those curves sound like you really won't wrap your head around it.
For practical purposes we only need Fs, Qts, and Vas for what we're doing. The rest are used to double check what you input and to predict other things which are pretty meaningless in our applications here.
They are mostly expensive problems....careful what you wish for, you just might get it.I want all kinds of basshead problems... LOL!
OH yeah... I know ALL about response curves/Cabin gain... It is our friend and I'm thankful... I just found a way to actually model individual drivers and the CSCstang box in my car is what got me trying to learn... I had stinky coils and was nowhere near the rated power with a factory box... CSCstang's bigger box and WAY bigger port really made a difference... remember this thread... http://www.caraudio.com/forums/enclosure-design-construction-help/632305-tryin-larger-more-efficient-box-help.html ... I KNEW that something was wrong!... once the box got designed, built and installed... it is more efficient overall and the dam thing SUBS... (Low 20's)... hard with no stinky coils... I knew that I'd better learn Winisd since then... I think I've added 40 drivers to the database in one day... This IS cool...They are mostly expensive problems....careful what you wish for, you just might get it.
Seriously though, model a box, build it, test it.... repeat. Those graphs make a lot more sense when you can hear the results of a few different shapes.
you dont want to replace windshields every time you feel the urge to full tilt...That's all good... I'm guessing you're there or close... LOL!... 4 team Ascendant 18"s on 30K... it's a long way off for me... I'm at visors, windshield trim, dashboard flex and the rear window latch separated so I had to re-silicone it in place and add some extra... but I'm looking for more problems... I dampened the roof and it's quiet but I should have added some mass for sure... I'm losing at least 1 maybe 2 db there overall... I'm just getting started... I'm looking forward to next year...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gifyou dont want to replace windshields every time you feel the urge to full tilt...
Not sure. I always manually enter them in and usually makes chaanges if i know the parts and the shifts after breakin. But ARE these parameter files compatible with Winisd alpha?.. this would save anyone a TON of time and there are files for a BUNCH of drivers/manufacturers...
I tried to snag them and downoad them into Alpha... apparently Alpha has a different directory location for it's files than Winsd pro... Sh*t!... there are TONS of good driver files available... but I'm NOT a computer guy so I let it be... it has instructions on what to do but the targeted directory location is wrong. Not sure. I always manually enter them in and usually makes chaanges if i know the parts and the shifts after breakin.
