Lots of people use T-nuts, but there are a few other options.

I personally just mount my subs with regular screws :shrug:

This isn't a nutsert, or the exact screws I like.

Pan head, coarse thread, at least as long as the thickness of your baffle.

No need for self tapping. Drill pilot holes.

yeah i just started using #8 1 1/2" they sink in real tight.. but i'm not using a 40 pound sub either..

The one on the left will hold even if you use a 12" torque wrench .

The one on the right will pull out of the wood if you just look at them crosseyed.

This. Last few sub installs I've used spike t-nuts and matching hex/allenhead bolts. Works wonders.

Yeah, can't go wrong with t-nuts for that clamping power.
