will this kill my sub

im running a 12" L7 in a 3.5^3 vented box with a lanzar vibe 250 bridged at 4-ohm. I think its puttin out about 350-400 watts rms and no subsonic filter. It doesnt hit that hard without the bass boost on so i run it with the bass boost too. I think its a set +12 db. Will it hurt to run my sub like this for daily driving. Ive heard that bass boost will **** up your sub, but im not sure if it will since im not using that much power. Someone help me out.

i dont think that it will hurt your sub ecspecailly since you are so far under the RMS. just make sure to watch your gains

I'm not too sure on bass boosts...and i could be wrong about this, but i do believe that if you run the bass boost for daily driving, it would fry your amp before it would your sub. I -think- that the bass boost will cause your amp to run hotter..sort of like turning the gains up. But of course..i could be, and am most likely wrong.

BUT...there is such a thing i've heard of called under-powering your subs. I heard that it's just as bad, if not worse to under power your sub than it is to over-power it.

If your sub's are bigger then your amp, Then your sub's will burn up your amp, Due to the sub's trying to take more then what the amp can give.

Most of the time, You will smell your amp getting really hot, Befor it will do anything.
