i'm sure he'll do that when he publishes in a scholarly journal, but for his interview reported by yahoo he seems to have left that out.It would be difficult to demonstrate any causality, but at least present some correlative facts.

its a poor analogy for so many reasons.Hypothetical situation: The pope declares that something is unholy and should not UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES bw said or done. What happens from there? The Catholics follow that what he says...
Historical situation (not comparing the two): Hitler declares that anyone of Jewish descent should be killed. What happens from there? His followers do as he says.
Not saying the two are the same, but in both situations, you have someone that has an enormous say and what he says can force people to change their behavior based upon his own personal feelings.
