I am interested in getting a splw10. I won't be putting more than 700rms to it. I am worried that since it is a spl sub, it won't sound good. Do they sound pretty decent? Able to hit lows?

for daily, id not go that route. they really dont sound that good for daily. its more of an SPL sub than anything else. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Wasnt talking about #'s in db's, Im sorry you misunderstood. I was talking about how many times people burped them and burnt out with moderate wrms. I talked to several competitors using the SX and the XXX and the coils burnt out with 2000wrms to them. David DaSilva was 1 of them, uses RE SX When did Shaker start using RE subwoofers???

I've got a good amount of time in with the SX and have never had a problem thermally, nor mechanically. I used to burp an 18" SX off of 4 American Bass CX1200D's at .7 strapped/pair, with no problems whatsoever.

We all know that RE is favored around here...some of us have extensive knowledge and experience with their products, some have never even touched, seen, heard, smelled any RE product. But now it seems like it's the cool thing to be on the other side of the fence, trying to put down the company to 'go against the grain'.

Thats very common around the car audio scene. This is true that RE is favored pretty much on all forums. Either by performance, customer service.........................................................................this is all good. My point of this thread was that people were bashing my subs and others. Example AudioBahns

spl = no brand preference. You have to be willing to try anything and everything.

That being said... the SX doesn't live up to its name as a daily driving woofer. It flat out does not take 1000 watts "RMS" before getting stinky... it also doesn't get as loud as it should in a low tuned box.

Fart boxes, the SX is fine... for SPL it works ok.... but for whatever reason it just doesn't handle much power in a low tuned box.
