Which Sub for SPL in a ported enclosure?

Not mounted ina car open cab situation. Use a jeep with no top or doors as a basis.

well SPL is a meassure of PRESSURE so a jeep witht the top off wont build that much pressure J/P , but NE ways go for the SX 12's

Currently I have a RE HC 15 in the jeep it hits pretty nice..

I just need a sub that pounds in a open enviroment so sealed box's are out of the Question.

Any box is out of the question. Open top Jeeps are horrendous for bass. Just as a convertible. If your 15 sounds good, why change it?

What are you expecting a smaller driver to do besides not get as loud???

This is for a boat install.

So its the same scenerio, just new equipment.

well an SX is better or SPL than any alpine hands down. now is there much spl difference between an HC and an SX? arent the SX and HC pretty much the same model.

I guess the real question should be,

2 type R's on one PG 15.0.1

or one SX on the same amp....

I would liek to keep some of the room in the boat, but we all nkow what counts..

Just be carful when you install Car audio in Marine applications, watter and and salt (if it is in an ocean or gulf) can ruin a sub, why dont you look into marine speakers from kicker, JBL, and i think Clarion might make some.

Marine Grade car audio is nothing more the audio painted white..

and the price marked up X2..

Here in dallas the issue wont be the grade, it will be garage Kept and water will never make it to the subs or amps..

I'm sure you have already factored in salt water and all so I'll leave that to you

IMO the SX would be a great choice. But you would need to special order a dual 4 ohm driver for that amp The just keep the gains low.

I knew it would be, but I was for some weird reason hoping the type R wiould be allmsot as good.

I wanted to plexi the box so you could see the back of the Sub.. Just the back of the RE subs arent for show, but do work wonders.

I wonder if I could have the WHOLE rear foa RE SX chromed? **** show boats haha!

Personally I love the basket and magnet of RE's subs. Very sexy IMO. Especially the XXX.
