LOL.... hummm tuned to 40 i've personally heard them get LOW and get loud doing it... personally id go 4 cubes net @ 38 to 40.... So i would have to agree with you on that one...

The double baffle would be on the inside of the box, which means it would take away from the volume and change the tuning.

ok this is it... Double baffle the **** thing... Resin coat the inside... 4 cubes @ 38 after all displacement.... throw decent power at it and call it a day...

couldnt you just mount one on the outside to?
Or are you speaking of flush mounting?

He had maximum dimensions to go by, so if you add an extra 3/4" to the depth, then it may not fit.

Yep he wanted it double baffled. I said it was unnecessary - my 9515 is single baffled and I bet it weighs slightly more than a HDC3 15 and it is just fine. But whatever.

DJ designed my box himself, he said a box this size really doesn't need bracing or double baffliing. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt be not necessary

Do the higher tune as you can always extend the port to lower the tuning. My experience with the HD's has been that 38Hz was good for rap, but 35hz sounds better for metal, R&B, hip hop, 70's rock, etc...

Of course your car/set up may be entirely different. Just build one and go from there.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have decided to go with 4cu dy tuned st 34 to start, and are how I like it. Should sound good seeing as my M3s that I had b4 were tuned to 45 for burping.

stfu. dont tell him what will sound good or bad in HIS car unless you drive the identical(down to the contents) car.

if ur going to try and sit there and tell me that in MY 2000 EXPLORER, 38hz sounds better TO ME than a 34hz tune? absolutely not. drive a 2000 explorer with the identical layout and then formulate an opinion. i dont care what sub it is, and with all due respect to DJL i wouldnt ever tune my box above 35hz for daily driving. I understand that 38-40hz is what he's recommending but i believe it depends on what the user is looking for. then again i had my MJ-18" tuned at 30hz..

That box should sound fine for an HDC...
