What was the civil war fought over?

Obviously.
You make this too easy for me. The cat is out of the bag, you know nothing about American history or anything that gives you credence in this discussion. Allow me to learn you something.

The mass of "republicans" in the south are republicans for no other reason than racism, abortion and gay rights. It has nothing to do with fiscal anything (for the majority, of course there are exceptions).

At the turn of the 20th century, the southern states were call the "solid south". But what political party did they vote for en masse? I'll tell you because I know you don't know. Democratic. It was the democratic solid south. And for the most part it was the solid south until the civil rights movement. Why up until the civil rights movement? See the next paragraph.

In the south there were a lot of redneck racist democrats who hated black people. In 1964 LBJ, a democrat, passed the civil rights bill. The southern redneck racist democrats were furious and the next election it was still the solid south...except now for the republicans who pandered to their racist ways.

It's a mixture of trolling for trolling sake and want to laugh at people who really think that the confederate flag doesn't stand for slavery.

Lol You're rubber and I'm glue? Grow up.
I was making fun of the fact you said the exact same thing I said to you..to me.

And I'm disappointed that you had no response to my history lesson. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Not surprised of course, but disaapointed.

Im not reading this thread but im posting what i know.

The war was fought over the rights of the southern states vs the government. Lincoln made it about slavery when the south was lobbying for englands help because England needed the souths products. Lincoln knew if he made the war about slavery, then England would technically be fighting for slavery which would keep them out of it which is exactly what happened. The fact of the matter was that barely anyone in the south owned slaves because they couldnt afford it. It is also a popular idea that Lincoln abolished slavery which was also wrong. The Emancipation Proclomation freed slaves in states controlled by the Union. The South was its own entity and didnt listen to the laws of the Union for that time so the EP didnt apply to them. As the Union started taking states back throughout the war, the slaves were freed in those states but the over-all consensus that Lincoln freed the slaves is wrong because he did not. The Amendment ( cant remember which number) freed all slaves.
