What should my next car be?

Welcome to the real world broski! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wave.gif.002382ce7d7c19757ab945cc69819de1.gif
Now git to work you young whippersnapper!
LMAO, well do my figures sound somewhat realistic? I mean, there are tons of people out there that make less than what we will be making, and they make it by fine with fairly new vehicles. My girl and I both are gonna be doing the same thing, making from 17-23 bucks an hour...

My '02 Camaro Z28 6-speed with a 5.7 liter V8 does the 1/4 mile in 12.9 sec' date=' tops at 165 mph, & gets 34 mpg highway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif[/quote']
that's just sad for a Z28, my foci would beat that. if you not running 12.50 or faster you should be making comments about having a Z28. you Z28 is the slowest one i know of. a couple of friends have them and they all call my car the slocus b/c they are all running low 11s on street tires with no spray.

Explain how AWD is gonna do any good in the snow if the bumper is 2-3 inches from the ground? \
As for my gas mileage' date=' @ 75 mph in 6th gear the engine turns 1300 RPM. It's an overdrive gear for highway driving & only uses 4 cylinders @ low RPM.[/quote']

It will do much better than my RWD car that is 2-3 inches off the ground. Also, it is more like 5 inches or so for the MS6, which isnt too far off cars that are known to be great in snow like Imprezas, and the like.

What have you done to your Focus? Also there are a bunch of stock Z28s and ***** Ams around here that are proud that they run high 13s LOL

We are renting my girls parents upstairs apartment at the moment til we get into our new jobs. We plan on getting our own apartment, which from the looks of it will be around 600 a month with all utilities. We will both be bringing home about 400 a week, working 3 days a week. Then after 3 months we will be full time bringing home around 650-700 a week each. Thats about 2600 a month each that we will be bringing home. I figured 400 a month for a car payment, 300 for insurance, about 600 for rent/food/etc...That leaves me with around 1300 a month for whatever I need, such as gas, subwoofers(LOL) etc. Oh and the 600 I said for rent/food/etc is just for me, my girl will be paying the same, so thats actually 1200 a month total, which sounds normal in my opinion...
If those will be your only bills then you might be good. I don't know if these things apply to you but there's also: cell phone bills, cable/internet, health insurance, credit cards if you have any. And also make sure you have money for any incidental things or emergencies.

Health insurance is taken out of our paychecks already from work, after we get full time anyways, so that isnt a factor. Cell phones/internet/TV were hopefully included in the 1200 I said for rent/food/etc. I figured, 600 for rent/utilities, 50 for internet, 120 for cell phones, 50 for tv, and like 350 or so for groceries/food. Even if I were to raise it another 300 bucks to 1500 a month, that would still leave each of us like 1150 a month for whatever we wanna get or need. It sounds easily doable to me, but right now I am working part time at minimum wage and only paying 60 for car, 150 for insurance, 50 for my phone, and 200 for rent, so there might be more I am missing...

i don't know a single person that owns a Z28 or ***** Am that runs slower than 12.50s. my focus, ha what haven't I done to it. after it gets it's overhaul I probably barely break 12.80s. right now, i have a decked head for 10.8:1 compression, ported and polished head, big bore throttle body, ported intake manifold, 3" intake piping with re-calibrated MAFS for 24lb injectors, 24lb injectors, adjustable cam gears (dialed in via dyno), stage 2 cams, light weight pulley kit, lightweight flywheel, stage 2 clutch, poly urethane motor and ***** mounts, SCT X3 tune, ZEX kit 100shot daily (150 shot for track and "special" races), NT555 tires for the front for track days. on the motor 160+hp and 140+ torque, on the daily spray 250+hp and 160+ torque, on track spray 280+hp and 300+ torque. sadly enough, blew the head gasket twice when running 150shot. ran 12.70s on 150shot and NT555s, ran 13 flat on 100 shot and street tires.

check into the GTI's I LOVE the 1.8T the Volkswagen has. I would look into the GTI or GLI. Both are super sweet, some what "rare" to see around town, decent interior, good gas mileage, "quick", and fun to drive. I dont know how well they would do in snow/ice, but i want one of those terribly bad and after a few different test drives i like them even more.

Wow, you run high 12s with only 280hp? lol I guess thats the miracle of having a light as balls car. Sounds nice either way, I bet its a blast to drive, even though you probably get crazy torque steer dont you?

I question that, I was in the low 12's with a lot of tire spin and a lot of mods. Are they running street slicks? If so that makes sense... I would have been in the 11's on street legal slicks I'm sure.

I'd gladly line the V6 Challenger up against your Focus. Not sure what it runs through the quarter mile, but I'm willing to bet it's quicker than a Focus... I've rented plenty of Foci, Focuses, whatever you want to call them.

Not willing to risk NOS on a brand new car, but I'd bet 150 HP would put me in the 12's in the Challenger. There are people with mods similar to mine, plus headers and NOS, running the 1/4 mile faster than Challenger RT8's.

All in all, when it comes down to it, at this point it's all about breaking necks when I drive by, not being the fastest car on the road. Been there, done that, got the tickets.

A GTI was one of my competitors for sure, but if I was going for a hot hatch, I think it would have to be the Mazdaspeed3. And the only GTI I would consider would be the 2.0T honestly. I have friends with Jetta 1.8ts and A4 1.8ts and they have soooo many problems with them, and they are expensive to fix. Thanks for the consideration, it is one of the top 5 still on my list....
