What should I do?

I recently started upgrading my factory system. I currently have Alpine CDA-9883 deck. One of my buddies who is still in college and needing money offered me his system. MTX TC4004 amp, Kicker Solo Baric 12" S12L7 in a Kicker sealed box and a DB Link 2000 watt digital capacitor. I would just have to buy the amp kit and wiring. Only problem is the sub is on it's way out. It pops and coughs at high bass levels so you can tell it's not going to last long. He wants 200.00 for everything. Should I purchase this and replace the sub with a new Solo Baric or look for something else? The other question I have is I know they offer 2 ohm and 4 ohm versions of the sub so which one would match better with my amp?
